Raissman: Michael Kay rips Joe Torre, but not on YES Network

Why was Michael Kay treading lightly on Alex Rodriguez and jolly-stomping Joe Torre? That is the question a caller to Kay’s ESPN-1050 Tuesday soiree asked.

The inquiry agitated Mr. Kay.

“There are things about Joe Torre, if I wanted to come out and say, would show how cold and calculated he really is,” Kay fumed. “... Joe Torre is for Joe Torre. ... The graveyard of Yankees coaches is loaded with bones of coaches Joe Torre did nothing about.”

And your Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation was actually a blown call…..so there!

I think as a manager of the Yankees there is always a bus about 10 feet behind you. It may move slowly, never gaining on you for years and years, but as soon as you fall out of favor, it immediately accelerates.

It took awhile but a Google search found that apparently Girardi did not want team broadcasters eating from the same spread as the players. This led to conflict with Hutton. Now, there's an issue that the fans want to know about.

It always amazes me how the media telegraphs its interests to the fans and how some fans actually take those messages seriously. How a manager gets along with the media is probably about the 100th most important issue for me concerning a prospective manager. If anything a manager has to have a big enough ego not to take the media too seriously. That quality differs from whether a manager is a "buddy" to them.

I'm not hip to this Raissman guy. It took ten solid seconds of staring at his byline photo to determine if that "moustache" was Sharpie or real.

As for Michael Kay, I'm hip to him. He'd (insert degrading act) for (insert fleeting, morally vacuous tangible or intangible good) anytime, anywhere.

yeesh, I've heard a lot of people ##### about New Yorkers, but now we're "spoiled, childish ingrates" too? Guiliani doesn't speak for all of us.

When I was a kid, I loved making Bob Raissman on those toys where you dragged magnetic facial hair onto a face. Now that I think about it, I would probably still get a kick out of it.
