If you go by BA's ranking -

Thed had a hell of a deadline. Adding to a farm system that already had 4-5 of the top 50 prospects and 6-8 of the top 100 -- they got the two best prospects shipped out at the deadline (including another consensus top 10) and three of the 10 best overall.

Figure Alcantara graduates and doesn't make next year's list -- maybe Baez, depending on the rest of the year -- the Cubs could still be looking at 10 of the top 100 next year.

They're still short on pitching - but the addition of Schwarber and Caratini means they're deep all over the diamond... The only thing they really lack is a stud pitching prospect that projects as an ace (you can make the argument Edwards could be that - but it would be more of a ceiling projection than a likely case projection).

Obviously, it would feel a lot better if the MLB team was a .500 club now with all sorts of payroll space/non-financially troubled owners AND a farm system ready to deliver reinforcements and chits, but I really do think there's a lot to be excited about with this system.

"Maybe next year 3 years from now."

Is it controversial that they have McKinney over Moran? That surprised me.

McKinney has more upside I guess. Moran was seen as a low ceiling guy, and is still in A ball. I thought he'd move faster than this.

I like Ramsey a good deal more than they have him.

Walters, Wates, and O'Brien are all very intriguing to me as sleepers.
