Rays’ David Price in ‘bad mood’

“I mean, obviously I think about it,” Price told reporters on Tuesday. “That’s why I’ve been in a bad mood the last week and a half. I think about it. You guys know that. And it’s nothing I really want to talk about.
“I don’t have an answer for you guys. I don’t know where I’m going. I don’t know when I’m going. So there’s nothing I can really comment on.”

So much for standard cliches about not letting it affect him.

Pitched well today.

Price has a strange combination of FIP stats. The 133 Ks and 13 BBs is excellent, but he leads the league with 16 HRs. He'd look great in Dodger blue, though would likely cost Pederson.

Why trade for 1.5 years of David Price when you can have 1.5 years of Bartolo Colon at a significantly lower cost?

That K/BB ratio is nuts. I haven't seen him pitch this year. Is he catching more of the plate, leading to fewer BBs but more HRs?

Is it just me or does Price strike any of you as a petulant ##### at times? He is a great pitcher and all, and seems rather intelligent, but he has a condescending whiny frat boy air about him. Thought?

He's also very well-spoken.

More of the same today:
11 K's, 1 BB, 1H R

Sounds like a great fit for Oakland.

Makes sense, he's always around the plate and throws tons of strikes, so guys are going to get a hold of one every once in a while because the ball's likely in the strike zone all the time.

Schilling was much the same way; his best season was likely 2002, where he had a 316/33 K/BB ratio, but also allowed 29 HRs (after allowing 37 the year before). Didn't prevent either Schilling or Price from being very good pitchers.

"I'm in such a bad mood because I'm going to make more money than this place can afford to pay me. I'm really depressed about that 160+ million I'll be squeezing out of someone.

David Price could easily pass as Tim Duncan's little brother.

Totally agree. I can't stand Joe Maddon, but it's hard to deny that he's very good fit in Tampa. I think some of it is that he's very good at working with (and continuing to shelter) young, very immature people.

Gave up the HR in the 9th inning of a 5-0 game. I can see why he'd be throwing the ball over the plate and not worrying about the solo homer.

So he's pitching to the score

Speaking of which, Sean Doolittle is up to 50 strikeouts and 1 walk in 36 innings. 50:1!!!!

If the A's snatch anyone from the Rays, I want it to be Zobrist. Thanks for taking my call!
