Red Sox designate OF Sizemore for assignment

Sizemore hit .333 in spring training and started in center field on opening day when he homered in Boston’s 2-1 loss at Baltimore. But in 52 games, he hit .216 with two homers and 15 RBIs.

He lasted a lot longer than I expected.

The funny part is that most people in Boston thought Sizemore's challenge would be staying on the field...but his health has been a non-issue. He can't hit...at least, not up until now. But people have been rooting for him to succeed.

It's a good sign, though, for has been arguably the worst offensive outfield in baseball this year: As the saying goes, the first step to getting out of a hole is to stop digging. Rolling Sizemore out most days has been like digging the hole deeper...

A sad day for baseball chick. Condolences.

I was at the spring training game where he had three hits and made a couple of great defensive plays. It was really shaping up as a fun story.

I met a guy once whose girlfriend cheated on him with Sizemore. I bet he's got a wry smile this morning.

Hey at least it was Sizemore. Imagine being the guy whose girlfriend cheated on you with Julian Tavarez.

He doesn't mind because he killed himself.

Or Dennis Littlejohn (as long as we are alluding to porn nicknames...).

Well with a name like that how could she not be tempted?

Except Sizemore has a lot more free time now to shtup the guy's girlfriend.

What year did she cheat with Sizemore? I wouldn't be upset if it was 2007, I'd have ###### him back then. But if it was after all his injuries, I'd tell her she could find her creaky knees fix easier at the local nursing home before dumping her.

Welp, there goes my grand idea of a Sizemore/Andres Torres CF platoon. Rarely have I offered more of a crackpot idea on BTF.

Apparently, Brock Holt can play every position.

Is there a minimum amount of time Sizemore needs to spend in the majors to be eligible for comeback player of the year award?

It would be a shame to see this demotion cost him the award he earned back in March.

We have yet to determine if he can play them simultaneously. So there's that.

Well last night we learned he can play at least two positions simultaneously.

How can the Sox even think of DFAing Sizemore? 2 weeks ago he was one of the left handed hitters that Sox fans said showed that Stephen Drew signing wasn't necessary to balance the lineup.

Along with Jackie Bradley, LOL.

You mean two weeks ago when Sizemore wasn't a left-handed hitter in the lineup even when he was in the lineup and batting left-handed? Or two weeks ago when the Royals season was futile?
