Red Sox injury: Where things stand with Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia’s knee | WEEI

If the Red Sox really want to get Chavis acclimated at 2B maybe they should play him there more than half the time.

The likely short-term solution is Tzu-Wei Lin, who impressed in spring training and has gotten off to a solid start with Triple-A Pawtucket, going 5-for-9 in his last two games. Top prospect Michael Chavis has shown good power (4 homers .250 batting average, .954 OPS), but is still acclimating himself to playing the second base position.

The Sox really need to Taiwan on and relax.

Trade him to the Yankees and bring back The Bronx Tzu.

If he pitches he could be a Tzu-Wei player!

Stole that from Bill James's twitter, I think.

Pedroia now on the DL. Seems like another rushed rehab - only 3 games, no consecutive games in the field, and supposedly wasn’t slated to do so for Boston when recalled. Like most teams, the Red Sox are a bit opaque on medical issues, but if you can’t play consecutive games on your knee, I find it difficult to believe the knee is strong enough to avoid further injury attempting to play at the MLB level.

His rehab was 314 days.

IMO they are taking the right approach with Pedroia, because IMO he's done. But as long as he's not retiring, they can try him for a few games and see if he can do anything, and then put him on the IL if he can't.

Dustin Pedroia grounded out to lead off Monday's game against the Orioles. That dropped his career batting average from (officially) .300 to (officially) .299, which is where it sits right now.
