Red Sox no longer short on depth | Boston Herald

My guess, Bogaerts ends up staying at short.

“They’re definitely among the stronger groups” in baseball at the shortstop position, said Jim Callis, executive editor of Baseball America. “Xander may (switch positions) when he’s ready for the big leagues, but the more I talk to people about him, people who used to point out that he’s athletic and big and may wind up having to move, now the more of those people you talk to, it’s, ‘You know what, this guy may be able to stay there.’ It’s pretty obvious after Stephen Drew’s time is done, if Iglesias hits, because he’s such a good defender, then Bogaerts would move to another position, but if Iglesias falters with the bat, I see Xander at shortstop for awhile.”

Now I understand why the new team slogan is "a surplus of mediocrity"

Tag needs fixing: Xander, not Xavier.

getting way ahead of myself, but if the Red Sox end up in a situation where they're thinking of moving Bogaerts way down the defensive spectrum (say, 1st base or a corner outfield) they should just trade him instead. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to deal for Stanton next year, which will entail months of leaked negotiations and infinite permutations.

Culminating in a trade of Stanton for Profar and the Red Sox left holding their dicks in their hands.

no doubt, thats obviously a much better match. Just hoping & praying that the Rangers are serious about playing Profar at 2nd.
