Rock and roll.

He'd better not lose very many starts/PA's to Nunez...

Not surprising for Devers. The more surprising thing is that the Red Sox hit 2! homers in one game....let the good times roll.

Meh. Daniel Nava did that in his first plate appearance, no?

Making a mockery out of the Moncada vs. Devers comparisons.

As did J. Hoyt Wilhelm.

Andy sez: Rafael Devers has a 50% chance of being a Hall of Famer.

Not sure why he's so bearish in him but he'll come around.

So he's already the second greatest 3B in Sox history? :-)

When I was a kid I could reel off many of the guys that did this. Will Clark was a fun one- homered in his first at-bat off Nolan Ryan.

Chunky young fellow, huh?

"So he's already the second greatest 3B in Sox history?"

That is a really low bar.

On the first pitch he ever saw in the bigs. For a grand slam!

Hey, I'd be happy to see the Yankees trade the seasoned veteran Todd Frazier for him. Frazier not only also hit a home run yesterday, but he can even hit into productive triple plays. Let's see Devers do that.

Devers could hit into a run scoring quadruple play if the situation called for it.

True.

Looking for guys with at least 75% games at third, the Red Sox had a pair of good players from the first year of the AL to near the end of the Ruth era. Jimmy Collins had 28 WAR from 1901-07 and Larry Gardner 30.4 from 1908-17. The only others in team history with 15+ WAR are Boggs (71.6) and Frank Malzone (17).

Devers could hit into a run scoring quadruple play if the situation called for it.

And Frazier could strike out six times in a single at bat, if he thought that'd give the next batter more time to use the bathroom. They don't call him Mr. Intangibles for nothing.
