In Old Primer, I'd have posted this as Joe Valachi.
"I know it was you, Dustin! You broke my heart. You broke my heart."
Yeah, when you buy the wrong brand of diaper for your whiny little babies, that'll happen.
Serious question: I thought John Henry said the leaks weren't true. Which would mean that nothing actually leaked. So what is the issue, here?
Is it that _some_ of the "leaked" details were true?
If only James Angleton was alive...
So, Pedroia is going to need the clubhouse guy to start his car for him after the games now.
Probably. The basic leaked stuff seems true (there was a text message, a meeting was held) but maybe Henry thinks that some of the specifics weren't exactly right or they were mischaracterized.
I nominate Matsuzaka
I wonder if Nicholas Branch is available.
1) You can't truly counter the lies without leaking the truth. But even then, outsiders won't be able to tell the difference between lies and truth, nor between the counterclaims and "spin". So "leaked" lies are fairly damaging.
2) Why would someone want to leak lies? (a) If they're throwing the media off the investigative trail. But that doesn't really make much sense here. (b) If they're trying to advance an agenda. If someone is trying to make it appear there's more support for their agenda than there is, it will build more pressure for that agenda in the public. (c) Fun! Well, if negative manipulation of the team's image is an employee's idea of fun, that's a pretty big problem.
Screw that, his contract is up. Lackey on the other hand...
Pedroia doesn't seem patient enough to stand by and watch Matsuzaka nibble around the ignition with the key.
Well, or the reporter just made things up.
I thought it was that someone above you wanted the information out, but didn't want their name attached to it.
"Sure, I don't mind if my staff members rape little boys, as long as they win me games", said an unidentified senior member of the Penn State football program.
(Ok, maybe I'm done with Penn State analogies for the time being)
Or is this just a government thing?
No wonder Manny would go inside the Green Monster scoreboard between innings :)
