Reds agree with newly acquired Puig on $9.7 million contract

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds avoided arbitration with Yasiel Puig, agreeing with the newly acquired outfielder on a $9.7 million contract for 2019.

You know, this is rather disappointing, after everything claimed about Puig in the popular press.

I am not sure why this is disappointing? I mean, it would have been nice if he had signed a multi year deal and bought out this last year of arb, but, i dont think anyone thought he would do that.

I think QLE was hoping for bouts of immaturity and a shutdown owned by Puig. Instead, all they got was an amiable contract agreement, with very little entertainment value.

I still think Cincy's broadcasters are going to have #### fits about Puig playing baseball while being a black Hispanic. Let me know if that doesn't happen, because I'll be shocked.

You are correct, especially given the sense of increased tension between labor and management generally over the last couple of free agency cycles.
