For most of the prominent federal positions the administration is going down a list of wealthy aristocrats known for villainous behavior and belligerent, misanthropic personalities. The ones with any sense of shame or self-awareness say no, so they end up with, in this case, Loria.

I'm surprised he's not being considered for the post of ambassador to Canada...

There was a rumour it would be Sarah Palin.

Maybe if he complains enough, he can get France to build him a new embassy.

Kudos, Gonfalon.

If Loria gets this, and I've said this many times here, the man is an effing genius. More like (in Wil-E-coyote voice---SUPERGENIUS!).
The dude ought to write a book, "how to be a total steaming turd and still come out on top"

All I know is Mephistopheles will extract his payment Mr. Loria. It may not be tomorrow, but the debt will need to be met...

First order of business: Threaten to move the embassy to Copenhagen unless the French government institutes an Art Sharing scheme allowing Loria to claim the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo for his own personal collection.

Isn't there something in the Geneva Convention about this?

Sell the team to a Kushner, get ambassador to France.

I doubt it's "encore saignante" at this stage.

The rule is the ambassador must stay in that country the entire time, right?

Plum ambassadorships often go to large donors. Did Loria write Trump a check?

More likely as a convenient excuse after somebody talked some sense into him, about the actual value of the Marlins franchise. This is why "handshake" agreements of this magnitude are silly.

As long as it isn't to Canada. We might not have capital punishment anymore but we could force him to watch 45 years of Maple Leafs hockey. In one sitting. See how long it takes before he screams for mercy.

Yes, bigly. He donated $125,000 to the Trump Victory fund.
