Report: Josh Beckett played golf before missing Red Sox start - The Buzz - Boston.com sports news

It won’t be long before he has his children taken away.

According to a report by 98.5 The Sports Hub’s Hardy, Red Sox righthander Josh Beckett played golf in the area last Thursday afternoon, two days before he was scheduled to miss a start against the Orioles because of stiffness in his latissimus muscle.

This is yellow journalism at its worst. Everyone knows that Josh Beckett pulled that muscle when he reached for his bucket of chicken and slipped in a puddle of beer (while partying in a hotel room with Enrique Wilson)

Hardy is now getting scoops? Hardy, Robbie Roadsteamer's buddy?

I heard Josh Beckett uses a teleprompter!

I still want to know where this guy was while Darnell McDonald was pitching the 17th inning....

I'm more bothered about Daniel Bard in that game. He's the guy that seemed like the obvious choice to me.

More than likely, they had both already thrown a side session.

...or had just finished a side order of wings.

This from a Pete Abe thing on May 7 (Monday).

"He threw today and said he felt fine and ready to go," Bobby Valentine said.

Beckett had his last start skipped because of a strained lat muscle on the right side of his back.

Valentine was asked why Beckett didn't pitch in yesterday's 17-inning game. He said only that pitching coach Bob McClure was "taking roll call."

So he pitched his side session on Monday. Great. Thanks, Josh.

Carl Beane killed in a car crash. This team is not having a good year.

Wow that's awful. A friend met him in the elevator leaving a Celtics game a few years ago. My friend said Beane asked his name then did a full on "introduction" as they were leaving the elevator. He said Beane was extremely friendly.
