Report: Several Rockies think Hurdle might be fired today

Today, one week after general manager Dan O’Dowd gave Hurdle a quasi vote of confidence, that picture could change dramatically. Following another dismal showing Wednesday in an 8-6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field, several Rockies players privately speculated that today’s off day could mark the end of Hurdle’s seven-plus-year tenure as manager.

“It’s a misnomer to say we are on a daily Clint watch. I am giving Clint the benefit of the doubt for now,” O’Dowd said a week ago. “But we need to play better.”

I hope they misspelled "Acta."

"The Jim Tracy era starts now!"

Ouch. That's going to leave a mark.

Sorry, Rox fans.

Let's hope so.

If in fact this story is really true, I find it a bit unseemly for players to be anonymously engaging in this kind of speculation to the press.

Well, the good way to look at that is once he is fired, the Rockies will make the playoffs 4 of the next 5 years (or something like that)

They could do it like the Mets - fly Hurdle to the East Coast, then can him at midnight after the game.

Per rotoworld, just a minute ago, speculating on Cecil Cooper:

"I've been a GM now for 10 years. This is my 10th year," Wade said. "I don't get into votes of confidence. I don't think there's any value to it." Jesus Ortiz also quoted an anonymous player as saying "It's going to be Coop or me soon" so obviously the writing is on the wall here for the last-place Astros who are losers of seven straight.

I think it's about what, 2-3 months, before a player Twitters from a dugout during the game? Or from a clubhouse during a managerial tirade?

Harveys, I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet.

Though my impression seems to be that players are kept mostly in the dark about many things. . .

Twitter already happened in the NBA, got snuffed by the coach, and probably got kiboshed by the rest of the front offices soon thereafter.

Shaq is the leading tweeter in the NBA and is great at it, but he hasn't done it in games yet afaik. He has tweeted almost immediately after games, though.

He does stuff like, "I'm standing at the corner of a major intersection in downtown Phoenix right now, and the first Twitter follower to walk up to me and ask for two free tix to tonight's game gets them."

He's not exactly hard to spot, either, lol.

Looks like Hurdle got axed today instead. Tracy as interim.
