“The U.S. Postal Service has included 63 of Colorado’s 390 post offices on a list for possible closure.” Make it 64.
When will the Blake Street Bozos realize they are better off without Troy Tulowitzki in the lineup? With the ego removed, the rest of the team seems to perform better.
—Lars, Durango
Lars, I understand your anger and the need for Rockies fans to vent. The season is heading toward disaster with no salvation in sight.
But believing the team is better off without Troy Tulowitzki is ridiculous, and not just because they have gone 4-6 with him on the disabled list after his strained groin.
Tulo remains one of the best defensive players in the game, regardless of position. He’s the rare shortstop who hits for average and power.
Yet there are fans out there, like yourself, who don’t like Tulowitzki and his “ego.” I just don’t get it. What you call ego, I call passion.
...Yes, Tulo is having an off year (.287 average, eight homers, 27 RBIs, eight errors), but he’s still one of the best players in baseball. Indeed Tulo ranks No. 8 on ESPN’s list of the top-100 players in baseball.

1. Walt Davis Posted: June 12, 2012 at 12:42 AM (#4154397)Trading away ARod's contract and ego was the best thing the Rangers ever did and I strongly recommend the Rox do the same.
I can't see why the Red Sox and Yankees aren't in a huge bidding war for that guy.
Never liked him myself, and totally disagree. I think it's hilarious.
Plus, it's one of the few joys Walt and McCoy and zonk can still get out of this season... who are you to begrudge them that?
He was pretty good in his one year in DC, playing in a park (RFK) that was pretty tough on hitters. And to be fair, injuries apparently played some role in his performance decline. However, he now seems likely to set the record for longest single-player BBTF meme - no small achievement!
I wonder how Frank Tanana would feel about this. And Mike Crudale.
That's a trap!
What, you think watching Carlos Marmol isn't fun? Wait... Yeah, STOP BEGRUDGING ME!
It strikes me as far more similar to 'never saw X play' (which has never been funny ever) than it is to Chris Truby and Albert Belle (which is always funny).
McCoy (and other Cubs fans, but it started with him) wants to see Soriano unloaded. Thus, virtually every thread dealing with another team who may need help/another player who might go elsewhere, he brings up the fact that Soriano is unavaialble. That's about it.
How knee-slappingly funny it is is obviously a matter of taste, but I side more with annoying than rip roaring. Then again, I'm rabidly anti-meme.
No, it's one meme (or one meme built on the back of a lesser one that has been fully subsumed). And it wasn't born here, but it was created by a Primate (Tom Nawrocki).
Don't let Marlon Byrd have undue influence in how you view acquiring aging Cubs outfielders... Trust me, you'll like this one.
It seems like both Truby and Belle get their own different jokes, based on the one original joke. Truby with his satanism, and Belle with his being associated with anything bad.
Well, if he keeps on hitting like he has over the last 40 games he'll be unavailable but for now I'd classify him as available.
The thing I don't understand is that we keep hearing that the Cubs will almost all of the contract to move him and yet he doesn't get moved. So I wonder constitutes almost all of the contract and like I said in another thread I really don't know why some team wouldn't take a flyer on him for 5 million a year.
I guess I can see that.
Edit: Ah, typo there. Yes, available.
Because younger guys with similar skillsets are almost always available for either less money or fewer guaranteed years, E.G. Cody Ross 1-yr $3m this past offseason.
And would the other team have to send someone back to the Cubs in addition to guaranteeing $5m per year?
