1. Hello Rusty Kuntz, Goodbye Rusty Cars Posted: January 15, 2009 at 02:13 AM (#3052284)Colon was OK when he pitched last year, wasn't he? I understand that he was injured for much of the year, though.
So I assume that the fifth starter spot is now an open competition between Richard and Broadway and everyone else, meaning...
SP1: Buehrle
SP2: Danks
SP3: Floyd
SP4: Colon
SP5: _____
That looks scary, especially if Danks and/or Floyd take a step back in 2009. (They combined for 401-2/3 innings of 3.58 ERA ball last year, although Floyd also allowed 19 unearned runs, so that's misleading.)
EDIT: Rosenthal says that Poreda is in the mix for a rotation spot. That seems hard to believe AND pretty aggressive, although I guess it's not unprecedented. He threw 87-2/3 pretty dominant innings at AA last season (72Ks, 22 walks, 5 HRs, 2.98 ERA). Birmingham is a pitcher's park, isn't it?
if there's one things Williams and the Sox have been GREAT at, it's finding healthy starting pitchers. Over the last 4 years, they've needed just 35 starts outside their intended rotation. Most teams need that many in a year.
So if Williams thinks Colon is healthy enough for a full season, I'll wait until Colon actually goes down before I say "I told you so." :-)
Plus, now that he has an AL team he is a lot more tradable in roto league where I stashed him for $2. :)
you guys
damm i wish us grrrls was as good and fast as yall boys are with this shtt
These are good, but they still can't top the actually printed headline of "After Scare, Colon Says He’s Ready for Opener"
Overworked Colon Leads to Runs
Colon battles control issues
Colon loses command of slider
Colon gets taken deep by Willy
Colon eliminated Gload with a slider.
EDITed for prepositional error.
I would have done it this way:
Ozzie: Colon Will Make a Terrific No. 2
Colon Stinks
Colon Passes "Sniff Test"
Colon Can't Hide Stench Of Sox
Colon picks A's
Wang takes Colon deep.
Will this be the most relaxed physical ever? Really, what physical could Colon pass?
A colonic?
God bless BTF, and God bless America!
(gotta pronounce it right, though)
Wang Pounds Colon, Comes Out Early
Broken Bat Punctures Colon
