Royals mascot welcomes Mr. Met to Twitter by hitting on his wife

Statements about “the greatest mascot in sports” do not necessarily represent the opinion of this author.

Mascots playfully taunting one another — on the Internet and in real life — is hardly new. But in an effort to “welcome” the greatest mascot in sports to Twitter, Royals mascot Sluggerrr stepped way, way over the line.

Hey @MrMet welcome to Twitter! BTW, can you ask Mrs. Met why she won’t call me back? http://t.co/MnKEbagKLQ

  (@Sluggerrr) March 10, 2014

Mr. Met calmly reminded the Royals’ insolent mascot where Mrs. Met’s loyalties lie, which prompted Sluggerrr — who’s really just a guy in a suit — to resort to Tweeting a Whitesnake video in concession. But the cowardly lion will want to squash this beef soon, or risk becoming prey for Citi Field’s pack of wild dogs.

She's not the type that's into the sort of guy who allows photos to be taken and made public of him getting ridden by a stripper.

Didn't Mr. & Mrs. Met split up?

I wish I could remember the This is Sportscenter commercial that had the "real nasty stuff about him and Mrs. Met" line.

I'm surprised that mascots can use Twitter, what with those giant puffy hands.

Sure is. I thought #5 was just kidding, but no...that really was his first Twitter post, and for the exact reason that Monty predicted too.

My first thought was talk-to-text, but I believe all mascots are mute. Are there any talking mascots?

At least the mascot has an excuse.

Well, Gammons did have a stroke . . .

"I joined @Twitter because I have no ears and don’t speak but I have thumbs so it made sense."

The Orioles radio guy used to interview the Oriole Bird on air... which was just some schmuck playing a slide whistle. God that was terrible.

The Netflix series on mascots is pretty amusing. They follow a high school nerd, a college player, a semipro hockey scrapper and an NBA gymnast-type mascot through their days.

Is he a lion with his hair coiffed to appear like a crown?

Or has his skull been surgically adapted to look like that?
