Rudolph Claus Blitzensen stats finally online.

After working his way up from the Workshop Summer League and the Arctic League, Rudolph proved to be a vital component in the Reindeers’ 2013 playoff run.

The similarity scores!

Insert Buck Leonard reference here.

Love it.

But am I missing something with Ozzie Guillen as one of the most similar batters?

Yes, Ozzie Guillen is always funny.

But am I missing something with Ozzie Guillen as one of the most similar batters?

If you ignore the league context, Rudolph is basically Ozzie with a little more speed, a little more power, and twice the walks.

Ozzie: 264/287/338 169 sb
Rudolph: 269/333/373 198 sb

That contract is a massive overpay. Male reindeer usually don't live much over a decade, yet they have him signed until he's 15 with a vesting option! He's obviously about to hit his decline phase too, given that he's the human equivalent of 50 years old.

How is Darius Rudoph not a comp? (I may have given Mr. Rudoph his first ever BBRef page hit by accidentally mistyping Rudolph.)

C'mon people, clearly 2013 was due to the use of PED. Look at the picture: the guy's got deer antler spray all over his cap.

Move over, Ernie Lombardi, there's a new Shnozz in town.

He'd have fit in great on the Red Stockings.

NY Daily News...always on top of their game.

"Sean Foley, the founder of baseball-reference.com teamed with John Hartwell of Hartwell Studio Works and Jay Rodgers of Jayro Design on the project that they never imagined would be such a hit.

According to Hartwell, the page was set up as a complement to a newsletter he sends out to clients — he’s designed logos for the Atlanta Falcons, Coca-Cola and Foley’s company — to keep in touch around the holidays (he calls it the Holiday League). Rudolph, however, is shining a much brighter light on his company."

I thought the Ozzie Guillen thing was an homage to this.

Merry [Bleep]ing Christmas From Ozzie Guillen

I thought it was because when Ozzie expressed his admiration for Castro some people said he was a "Red".

Nice to see that page sponsorship. When someone asked about the wisdom of signing Bartolo Colon, given that he's a candidate to fall off a cliff, I replied:

Didn't I ever tell you about Bumbles? Bumbles bounce!

His chance came in 2009, not from sheer talent, but from a sudden need for replacement players.

2014 Contract Status: Signed (vesting option), 2 yrs/$14.4M (13-14), 8 yrs/$118M (15-22) & 23 vesting option

Sure, he hit well last year, but reindeer with his body type start to break down after age 12 or so. With that contract, they're gonna be singing "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Albatross" at the North Pole before too long.

Why'd they make Rudolph an average career hitter?

If you're going to do it, make him Honus Freakin Wagner!

There's a Homer in the Gloaming joke somewhere in here, but having tried to flesh it out off and on for the last 24 hours, I fear I'm not the Primate to make it.
