The lineup for SABR 47 - which is just two weeks away has continued to be added to.  If you haven’t signed up, please consider it - even for the day.  Across the street from Grand Central makes this hotel perfect for anyone to spend a day.  The ballpark event on Friday is a phenomenal time. This year’s speakers is jammed pack with favorites: Jim Bouton and Keith Olbermann are a couple of exciting names.  El Duque is scheduled to speak as well.

Every evening will be terrific - come out and join us!

I am giving a presentation. WHo else is going to be there?

So, no one then? This is a tremendous lineup

I'll be there playing softball. I don't have the scratch for the SABR entry fee. Sorry.

Bumping this to "feature" status, as I think most people missed it when it was first posted.

Seriously, this is a great event. The Bouton panel, including not just Jim Bouton himself and Primate Mark Armour but also John Thorn, sounds fantastic.

EDIT: Also, here's the link to the thread Jim posted on the presentation agenda, which has also avoided scrutiny.

I won't be attending but will stop by and hangout at night a couple times. Foghorn, is your cell the same?

I probably won't decide for sure until the last minute, but I am thinking of coming up for the Saturday sessions so I'll look for all of you in the Hyatt hotel bar after the Mets game.

I'll be there with the family, starting Wednesday night. Already scouted this German Beer Hall that Giacalone can take us to point out all the inconsistencies with actual German beer halls. Dimino will argue the other side, even though he has never been to one.
   8. Steve Treder Posted: June 21, 2017 at 12:41 PM (#5480084)
I'll be there, and even my wife too. I'm presenting on Saturday.
   9. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: June 21, 2017 at 02:33 PM (#5480157)
MHS, probably; It has a 656 exchange instead of a 244 exchange. Primemr mail me if that isn't what you have
   10. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: June 21, 2017 at 02:34 PM (#5480159)
that will be fun - perhaps Giacalone and I will disagree on them as different from Stuttgart vs Munich beer halls. I'll have photographic evidence.
   11. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: June 21, 2017 at 02:35 PM (#5480160)
And thanks vi

Foghorn, i primer mailed you what i have.
   13. AJMcCringleberry Posted: June 24, 2017 at 11:57 PM (#5482341)
I will be there, with the wife, beginning on Tuesday.
   14. AndrewJ Posted: June 25, 2017 at 04:26 PM (#5482440)
I'm coming up from Philly and should be there Friday. Hope to see everyone at the softball game Saturday morning!
   15. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: June 26, 2017 at 07:47 AM (#5482615)
Ah Olbermann is speaking at the same time as the softball game. And because I am a director I have the donors breakfast at 8 AM.

That's extra tough for me. My wife may be there though.
   16. TomH Posted: June 26, 2017 at 08:08 AM (#5482619)
I'll be there; seeing the Mets mgmt., Hal Richman, many others will be great. I'm presenting a poster also.
   17. Fred Garvin is dead to Mug Posted: June 27, 2017 at 12:20 PM (#5483573)
I'll be there tomorrow afternoon!
   18. Hans Van Slooten Posted: June 27, 2017 at 12:33 PM (#5483583)
I just landed at LGA. (It's about 12:30pm)
   19. Mike Webber Posted: June 27, 2017 at 01:17 PM (#5483641)
I'd get there early too Hans if I was staying on a cushy BB Ref expense account!! :)
   20. LA Podcasting Hombre of Anaheim Posted: June 27, 2017 at 03:06 PM (#5483800)
Just landed at Kennedy. Boy, are my arms tired.
   21. djordan Posted: June 29, 2017 at 08:18 AM (#5485091)
I may swing by the hotel bar this afternoon/evening for a drink and maybe check out the vendors room.
   22. Foghorn Leghorn Posted: June 29, 2017 at 11:07 AM (#5485184)
Also Opposite Olbermann is Hal Richman! Strat o matic inventor!
   23. Mike Webber Posted: July 03, 2017 at 09:40 PM (#5487394)
The BBTF Chapter of SABR held it's annual meeting on Saturday at midnight, thought we were just outside the hotel bar rather than in it. It was suggested that maybe we were getting a little old for this time slot, but so far it hasn't kept anyone away.
   24. AndrewJ Posted: July 03, 2017 at 09:56 PM (#5487405)
Couldn't make it there or to the Saturday morning softball game (I saw Keith Olbermann's talk instead) but had a wonderful weekend anyway.

RIP, David Vincent.
   25. Howie Menckel Posted: July 03, 2017 at 10:09 PM (#5487408)
forgive me the cross-thread but....

it was just a great mash-up of SABR and BBTF, for me and many others. "they like us, they really like us" - said pretty much everybody.
   26. Mark Armour Posted: July 04, 2017 at 01:38 AM (#5487460)
Who is writing the wrap up?
   27. TomH Posted: July 04, 2017 at 08:35 AM (#5487473)
Bouton panel - I expected raucous, I got very touching
Berra panel - everything I hoped for. New Yogi quips!
state of sabermetrics panel - Mark de Rosa, BK, intriguing the insights on how MLBers do or do not take numbers in
I didn't vote on the posters, but I agree with the winner; the catchers' mitt evolution was well done
Mets-Phils game: when I saw the Phillies lineup, I said "de Grom is gonna have a great game". A no-hitter thru 4, and then he loses it when Granderson loses a fly ball in the sky for a "triple".
   28. TomH Posted: July 04, 2017 at 09:30 AM (#5487481)
I missed the winning oral presentation; which happens, as there are typically two to choose from each session. But there were so many good presentations - excellent quality overall - the winner *must* have been really good.
