Fantasy Sports Ventures is changing its brand name to Big Lead Sports, a move designed to encompass the company’s broad array of digital sports content.
The three-year-old firm has been considering a name change for roughly a year. With acquisitions of entities such as the battery of Sports-Reference.com sites, the company has pushed far beyond its original scope of aggregating fantasy content sites. ...
The switch to Big Lead Sports aims to create better brand awareness for the company relative to its competition among online sports sites. FSV in July ranked fourth among sports sites in the United States, according to comScore, with 15.4 million unique visitors, behind only Yahoo!, ESPN and Fox Sports. FSV slipped to sixth in August but still saw its audience increase, to 15.98 million unique visitors.
The new Big Lead Sports stands as the largest digital sports media entity not controlled by a league, network or major corporation.
