Seamheads.com Adds 1924 Negro Leagues to Negro League Database

Seamheads now has Negro League data from 1907 to 1924, and Cuban League data back to 1902-03 to 1915-16.

This week we’ve added the 1924 Negro leagues, both the Negro National League and Eastern Colored League.  This year marked the end of the war between the leagues and saw the champions meet in the first Colored World Series, one of the classic postseason series of all time.

If you want to skip the article and go right to the 1924 data:

As impressed as I've been by Retrosheet, I am even more impressed by the effort that has gone in to finding the Negro League data. Very cool.

I had only one complaint - I had trouble navigating the site. I was trying to find Dick Redding's stat lines (for the Hall of Merit discussion), and had terrible trouble. I typed "Dick Redding" into the search tool and got a list of threads that mentioned Redding. Nothing else worked any better. Starting by clicking on "Negro Leagues" in the header didn't help. It just led to a different set of threads. Finally, by just clicking on anything that said Redding, I did find a list of Negro League players, ranked by Win Shares (I think). I clicked on Redding there and I did find what I was looking for. But I'm not sure I could duplicate the process. Does anyone know how to just get to a negro league player's stat lines the easy way? There must be one; I just didn't find it. I do hasten to add that, when I finally did find the stat lines, they were exactly what I was looking for. That is, the content was great, the navigation was hell. - Brock Hanke

Researching these numbers is probably the greatest thing done with sports statistics since the sabrmetric revolution. It is just outstanding work.

Brock - as long as you are at the link I provided above or any of the Negro League database pages, entering Dick Redding in the PLAYER SEARCH box should take you right to his page. Sounds like maybe you did a site search instead somehow.
