Seattle Times: Strip club proposed near Safeco Field

I haven’t been back to a strip jernt since Boom-Boom Battagalino’s “The Hopping Banana Girl” act got shut down by the stuffy locals.

Longtime Seattle adult-entertainment figure Roger Forbes wants the city’s permission to open a Déjà Vu strip club in a building about 400 feet from the home of the Seattle Mariners.

The Mariners are not happy.

They have filed a formal objection with the city, saying the city should not allow nude dancing a home-run’s distance from a place where there have been 3.9 million visits from children between 1999 and 2007.

Arguing with the vehemence of former Mariners manager Lou Piniella, the ballclub says the proposed business violates a city rule that prohibits strip clubs within 800 feet of open space or public parks where children congregate.

But Seattle attorney Peter Buck, who is representing the business, said the restriction applies only to a “public” open space or park.

It's a simple nightclub, but the staff uniforms are designed to follow the lead of Safeco Field: retractable tops.

So who's organizing the Safeco Field meetup?

So they want to be sure that the dancers stop at third base?

This being the Mariners, that is a purely theoretical home run.

What is more damaging to a young child - a woman's bare breast or watching Carlos Silva pitch?

Case closed.

Deja Vu? I think I've heard this story before.

If parents cared enough about their kids to keep them out of strip clubs and harm's way this wouldn't be an issue. How about a little accountability?

If this was Boston the storyline would be: Henry and Lucchino to open new strip club in Kenmore Square. *** Priorities ***

If this happens you would know where to find the DH between AB's and the bullpen until the fifth inning. They should call the joint, "The Clubhouse".

trouble with u guys is u got ZERO imagination. all u can think about is bare breasts on sluts.

now me, i got a MUCH better idea for a strip club - we call it "that's the ticket" or say "ladies night" and it got MALE strippers who look like hot ballplayers. we start with brad ausmus, grady sizemore (is that a pron name or WHAT???!!!) carlos pena, varitek (for all the pink hatters who like men all hairy) and pat burrell and, um, ray durham (trust me there is a big reason for this)

now THAT is what i call an interesting strip club.

oh yes it's ladies night and we feelin right oh yes it's ladies night oh what a night

Wow. Really? Good for Mrs. Durham.
   17. base ball chick Posted: October 28, 2008 at 05:46 PM (#2997861)
we could call the club "the filling station"
   18. nathanj42 Posted: October 28, 2008 at 05:50 PM (#2997868)
I'm against it, unless they decide on a cool name like "Richie's Sexkittons." Something funny that the children will like.

If not by a home-run-length, then what is the appropriate distance for nude dancing to exist from a place where there have been 3.9 million visits from children between 1999 and 2007? A marathon? A javelin toss? A long field goal?

Well I meant employed as a bouncer or the guy that cleans the stripper pole, or if they need someone to flail helplessly at curveballs.

Put some Derek Jeter look-alikes in there and I can see this being very popular with New York sportswriters and talk radio hosts.

There is a Deja Vu about 3 blocks from the new Target Field in Minneapolis. In fact, I saw Steve Smith and Scottie Pippen there years ago when Portland was in town for the playoffs. It was very late. Steve Smith was with 2 ladies and he was the reigning "man of the year" award winner.
