SF Gate: Giants Hammered in Milwaukee

I’m sure that Brad Hennessey hit the, uh, Hennesseys after the game.

Mostly, the Giants were left to admire Brewers starter Carlos Villanueva, who originally came through the San Francisco organization but went to Milwaukee in the 2004 trade that netted pitcher Wayne Franklin. There is a story here in Cheeseland that when the Brewers asked for Villanueva in the deal, Giants general manager Brian Sabean did not know who he was.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGH!

Brian Sabean is the greatest hero in American sports history.

Hey, they're in good company. Lots of movers and shakers get hammered in Milwaukee. What's there better to do there?

Villanuva is never going to bury the needle on the "stuff-o-meter". But he works the ball up/down/in/out and has a fine changeup. On a good day he can muscle his fastball to 90-91.

He pitches smart. As do all the young Latino pitchers on the Brewers. It's not just having better stuff. It's that they rarely cause me to roll my eyes and ask, "Now why did you throw THAT?"

Like a Dave Bush for example. Who drives me nuts....

Ya'know Justin, if you are going to be funny at others expense at least be FUNNY. That's the best you can do? A lame pun?

levski, show this poster how it's done.

Not to pimp my own posting, but I can't help but notice that Jonathan Sanchez's outing would make Wayne Franklin proud.

Justin, you don't need to be in Milwaukee to get hammered by Harvey Wallbanger--all you need is vodka, oj, and galliano... or btf membership

levski:

On my advice my grandson drafted Mark Reynolds for his fantasy team for all of 3 bucks.

Brilliant advice or the K's will eat up his game?

3 bucks? How can that NOT be a brilliant decision?

He sent me an e-mail this morning about Reynolds hitting a homer and me being on the "track to super-genius status if not mythic legend".

Bit prone to overstatement that one....
