Holy smokes! Andrelton Simmons just hit his second homer of the night! A no doubter down the left field line, a 3-run shot. and the Angels take an 8-5 lead.

Dejong has shown a vast amount of improvement at his plate discipline the past couple of weeks. I don't think it'll last, but it's nice to see he can go a decent stretch without striking out a lot.

Dueling bullpen meltdowns in Houston. Astros pen gives up four, Angels pen about to give it all back.

Carpenter may not be able to hit right now, but he's still racking up the walks... It's a tie game bottom of the ninth and Dan McLaughlin is arguing that Carpenter should expand his strike zone..... Really?

Pham brings his average up to .348 with his third hit of the night.

Starting the 6th inning down 8-0, the Padres bring in a right-handed submarine reliever to relieve another right-handed submarine reliever.

Ozuna is the black hole of our offense right now.

martinez striking out on a really bad pitch to swing at. it was never in the strike zone.

Rockies broadcast team has spent about 5 minutes of this thrilling 8-0, 30 degree Fahrenheit game discussing Jenny Cavnar's newly minted home run call from yesterday, "Fire up the fountains - she gone!" Generally positive reviews although they point out that it only works for home games.

This week they are commemorating the 23rd best Rockie of all time, coincidentally the team's current manager. And get ready for next week's celebration of #22, Dexter Fowler!

Don't really have a lot of confidence in Familia to hold this lead.
   112. phredbird Posted: April 24, 2018 at 11:34 PM (#5659635)
if they had flipped that call, that would have been hilarious ...

That's really petty.

jeeminy christmas, what a stupid game to lose ...

Not a game I expected the Mets to win. Mets only had 6 hits on the night but 8 walks will help.

Uh, Walt Weiss is the bench coach for the Braves. He hasn't been the Rockies manager since 2016.

The Marlins take the lead in L.A. in the ninth. The Dodgers are as mentally weak as Bryant Gumbel.

Wow, I think I missed when Walt Weiss stopped being the Rockies manager and they brought in the slightly older but seems much older Bud Black.

And it reinforced my perception when the announcers were spouting all these anecdotes about him, and interviewing the current Rockies bullpen coach while describing him as Walt Weiss's best friend during his Rockies playing days. Now I realize this was just because it's Walt Weiss week on the #25 best Rockies list.

Also when you start to google "rockies manager", the only name that pops up in autocomplete is Walt Weiss.

I like the Rockies announcers too. Ryan Spilborgs has a snarky Vasgersian-esque quality which is good in a color man but not in a PBP man.

Dear God, we've reached the point where a new generation of broadcasters is openly influenced by Hawk Harrelson. First Trump, now this. Our future is bleak, people.

The Braves should be contracted.
