And Drake’s® is a major company that has been providing the Northeastern United States with delicious snack cakes for over a century!
Attempting a comeback to professional baseball this spring with the independent league Nashua Pride, Rich Garces is still an attraction, as evidenced by the Hispanic/Latino Night and poster giveaway held in his honor last week and the forthcoming El Guapo Bobble Belly doll promotion scheduled for July 26. He hasn’t thrown a big-league pitch since 2002, but Sox fans still instantly recognize him. (It should be noted that no poster was actually given away last week. Garces, a Venezuela native, missed the season opener with visa problems, so fans were given a rain check to redeem their poster later in the summer.)
...“I’m a big guy, what can I do?” says Garces. “All my family is like that. If I drink one bottle of water, it’s like five pounds to me.”

1. Tim Stauffer, Trot Nixon's Coming (Dan Lee) Posted: June 05, 2007 at 08:41 PM (#2393941)I think he could expect at least as warm a reception as Dave Roberts would get.
While I have no doubt that there is a significant portion of the population that would be "fat" no matter what diet and workout regimen they undertook, I believe that a lot of people who fall into that category use it as a crutch to avoid making any real effort to stay healthy, and are way fatter than they should be.
Nah, not even close.
In game 4 of the 1999 ALDS, the Sox started pummeling Indians pitchers early and built up a huge lead (the Sox eventually won it 23-7). But the Sox starter wasn't so hot that night either. Jimy Williams brought in a few other relievers. Then somewhere in the middle innings the Sox had a 14 run lead when John Wasdin walked someone. Jimy came bouncing out of the dugout motioning for El Guapo. We all got to happily shout "El Guapo!", as was custom, and to laugh that Jimy didn't trust Wasdin with a 14 run lead. Good times.
