HOW WILL THE ANGELS FORGET ABOUT DAY GAMES TODAY?!
   2. rconn23 Posted: September 12, 2018 at 03:54 PM (#5743083)
How will the Yankees continue to lose home field advantage in the WC game today? (It't not even worth the all caps) I expect Severino to look terrible again.
   3. perros Posted: September 12, 2018 at 03:56 PM (#5743084)
The Rays are now fifteen games over .500 in what was supposed to be a rebuilding year.
   4. cardsfanboy Posted: September 12, 2018 at 04:11 PM (#5743089)
This game has been interesting so far... 4-3 Pirates ahead of the Cardinals in the bottom of the ninth, one out men on first and third(with Bader being the runner on third)
   5. cardsfanboy Posted: September 12, 2018 at 04:12 PM (#5743090)
Cardinals have failed to score a couple of times today in easy to score situations (most notably, with the pitcher hitting a leadoff triple)

And Dejong strikes out there..... needed to put the ball in the air and failed.
   6. cardsfanboy Posted: September 12, 2018 at 04:17 PM (#5743095)
And Carp strikes out looking on a very good inside corner pitch.
   7. Panik on the streets of London (Trout! Trout!) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 04:17 PM (#5743096)
I do not believe they pitched to Carpenter with Tyler O'Neill up next. But it worked.
   8. sotapop Posted: September 12, 2018 at 04:18 PM (#5743097)
for everyone outside the Tampa Bay region: Snell had a no-hitter into the seventh, when he gave up an HR to Ramirez. Finished with 7 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 9 K. Got his 19th win and his ERA now stands at 2.03. (His advanced stats aren't as strong, trails Sale in the rate stats, but the basics will appeal to the traditionalists in the BBWAA.) Rays have won 18 of last 22, iirc.

HOW WILL THE CARDINALS REGRESS TOD--

oh.

nevermind.
   10. rconn23 Posted: September 12, 2018 at 05:11 PM (#5743128)
Gleyber Torres - 9th place hitter. It's almost as if Boone doesn't want the home WC game.

How will the Yankees continue to lose home field advantage in the WC game today? (It's not even worth the all caps) I expect Severino to look terrible again.

At this point I'd want either Tanaka or Happ to start the WC game. Tanaka's got a 2.53 career ERA against the A's and they haven't seen him this year. And Happ's been almost as good against them.
   12. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 05:53 PM (#5743155)
Severino's 2nd half complete implosion, after a 1st half where he seemed to have a legitimate shot at having a better season (overall) than Guidry's 1978 is baffling ...
   13. Howie Menckel Posted: September 12, 2018 at 07:16 PM (#5743189)
Mets say they will announce tomorrow what they'll do with David Wright for the rest of the season, since his minor league rehab stint is over.

Owners would love to lure fans for a David Wright Day, but they love that insurance money even more. I THINK they'll let him play a handful of games anyway.

This whole season is one gigantic heap of crap. I call it the 'Trumped Season'.

I hate the Red Sucks, the Curbs and the Arsetros, and care for the Yanks, Giants and A's.
And all this friggin Trumped Season has in store for me is friggin Yankees @ Athletics in a WC game.

FU Baseball !

I forgot the Barves !

I'm going out on a limb and predicting that the A's will win the division if they don't lose another game, which it seems they never will.

How dare you take my anti-jinx and turn it into something special !!?
   17. For the Turnstiles (andeux) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 08:00 PM (#5743210)
They might never end this inning. First 11 batters have reached.
   18. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 12, 2018 at 08:02 PM (#5743211)
One out.
   19. Jose is an Absurd Force of Nature Posted: September 12, 2018 at 08:11 PM (#5743216)
Can replay please go away.
   20. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 12, 2018 at 08:13 PM (#5743217)
Well, at least I can enjoy the whole glory of Andrew McCucheon, shaved, in a Yankee uniform.
How sweet it is !
   21. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 08:13 PM (#5743218)
Thank goodness for replay.

no no-no

Wtf almora. You're not in there for your bat.
   24. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 08:24 PM (#5743227)
Bryant behind a 92mph fb down the middle. That shoulder probably still hurts.

At least the Yanks have pitching left. The A's are basically depleted A'sranium and I am not sure if their offense can carry them far.
At this point, I am all for the Yanks !
   26. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 08:48 PM (#5743229)
Better from Sevy so far.
   27. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:07 PM (#5743235)
Murphy has struck out a ton with the Cubs so far, way above what he normally does. For as good of a hitter as he is, he also has some javyesque strike zone expanding tendencies.
   28. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:11 PM (#5743237)
Cubs friday night game has been pushed back til 7pm
   29. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:14 PM (#5743238)
why take out Price after 92 pitches, he was cruising..
   30. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:14 PM (#5743240)
and now Toronto has 2 on in the 8th....
   31. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:18 PM (#5743244)
Twins flashing irritatingly good leather tonight ...
   32. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:22 PM (#5743245)
Wright escapes. A harum scarum inning with guys on second and first with no outs, but the way this season has gone thus far, luck is on the Red Sox side.
   33. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:22 PM (#5743246)
GARY SANCHEZ?????? STOLE A BASE?????!!!!!!!
   34. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:24 PM (#5743248)
Either busted hit and run or blown sign.

Dammit, Twins, STOP doing those things ....
   35. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:26 PM (#5743249)
Bird is so completely useless right now.
   36. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:29 PM (#5743251)
Cubs are hitting Anderson really hard and got nothing to show for it. I think counsel sees the same thing, his night will be short.
   37. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:41 PM (#5743253)
Both guys pull their pitchers early. Right move but I don't trust the Cubs pen to go 4 scoreless.
   38. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:41 PM (#5743254)
How will the Yankees continue to lose home field advantage in the WC game today? (It's not even worth the all caps) I expect Severino to look terrible again.

Well, it probably begins with getting no-hit though 6 by Jake Odorizzi.

Sevy has looked much better so far, which is something at least.
   39. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:42 PM (#5743255)
Oh #### this is going to be a long game.
   40. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:43 PM (#5743256)
If the Cubs score here, I'll start drinking.
   41. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:44 PM (#5743258)
Brewers have 19 pitchers on the roster the cubs also have 19.
   42. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:47 PM (#5743259)
I'm starting to not enjoy the Murphy experience when he's slumping.
   43. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:48 PM (#5743260)
Warning track power. But I'll take it. Come here you sexy Oktoberfest goose island.
   44. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:50 PM (#5743262)
Damn near hit that out. An inch or 2 more life and its gone.
   45. rconn23 Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:52 PM (#5743263)
I wouldn't rush Judge back to help this team if it means hurting his health long term. Getting no hit by Jake bleeping Odorizzi is about the final blow to the Yankees.
   46. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:56 PM (#5743267)

Sevy has looked much better so far, which is something at least.

So much for that ...
   47. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:57 PM (#5743268)
Defense gives and takes away. Both teams tonight.
   48. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 09:59 PM (#5743270)
I feel like javy is about to crush one this inning.
   49. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:01 PM (#5743271)
I will drink as many beers tonight as Cubs score runs.
   50. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:04 PM (#5743272)
With this team that means you are either sober or really drunk.
   51. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:05 PM (#5743273)
Ho, hum, another game, another anonymous stiff with a 4.57 ERA no-hits the Yankees through the first 6 2/3 7 innings and counting. What else is new?
   52. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:07 PM (#5743274)
Unreal.

7 innings now.
   53. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:09 PM (#5743277)
Well at 109 pitches odds are he is done for the night.
   54. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:11 PM (#5743278)
Bird is so completely useless right now.

Bird needs to train in the offseason with a pitching machine that throws 110 MPH. He's like a 1939 version of Lou Gehrig against any pitcher who can reach 95.

   55. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:16 PM (#5743280)
Bad Hammer, bad.
   56. rconn23 Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:18 PM (#5743281)
The Yankees really deserve to be no-hit. This was an atrocious effort.
   57. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:18 PM (#5743283)
If there's a stat that compares a team's two out hits with RISP to the number of two out hits its pitchers have given up with RISP, the ####### Yankees would probably be worse than the Orioles.
   58. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:19 PM (#5743284)
Twins now up 3-nil, just kicking sand in the NY faces...
   59. PreservedFish Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:21 PM (#5743285)
Kevin Hart in the Cubs booth: ghastly.
   60. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:22 PM (#5743286)
He just tried way too hard. Doesn't seem like he has an off switch.
   61. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:27 PM (#5743288)
114 pitches and counting. It's going to be one of those old school 140 pitch no hitters..
   62. Chip Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:28 PM (#5743289)
So does Odoirizzi really want to do this? That seems to be the main issue st this point. He could use quick outs, but as Flaherty and Leiter say, he hasn’t been stressed much even at this pitch count.
   63. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:28 PM (#5743290)
I hope murphey is switched out of this game.
   64. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:29 PM (#5743291)
Ump is drunk. Well, more drunk than me after 1 damn beer.
   65. Chip Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:29 PM (#5743293)
Overhead says that was a swing by Voit.
   66. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:30 PM (#5743294)
HAH!

Bird!
   67. Chip Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:30 PM (#5743295)
Molitor breathes a sigh of relief.
   68. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:30 PM (#5743296)
Well, that's a consolation.
   69. Meatwad Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:31 PM (#5743297)
Makes no sense to pull russell and keep murphey in.
   70. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:32 PM (#5743298)
no hitter gone, shutout gone. Get him out.
   71. Ziggy's screen name Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:32 PM (#5743299)
I switch to watch the no hitter. Which gets broken up on the second batter I see. Of course.
   72. Howie Menckel Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:35 PM (#5743302)
120th pitch, with 1 out in the 8th, ends the Odorizzi no-hit bid.

I think Santana threw 134 in his faux Mets no-hitter (he gave up a blatantly fair double down the LF line in mid-game, but it was just before the replay era. No Mets pitcher has ever completed a game without allowing an opposing batter to hit the ball safely into fair territory without a need for an errant umpiring call to "keep it going.")
   73. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:36 PM (#5743303)
Makes no sense to pull russell and keep murphey in

Gained one spot in the order. So yeah, agreed.
   74. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:38 PM (#5743304)
I dunno. Can't blame cj for that. If it's mental like you say Joe, why pull him now?
   75. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:42 PM (#5743305)
Guys, I'd like another beer here. Score a couple damn runs.
   76. Bote Man Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:45 PM (#5743307)
I'd like an order Odorizzi, hash browns scattered and smothered, and 3 sausage links.
   77. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:46 PM (#5743308)
Bryant looked like a little leaguer.
   78. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:51 PM (#5743309)
#### hader
   79. Howie Menckel Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:52 PM (#5743311)
the K probability for Baez against Hader there had to be, what, 91 pct?

"#### hader"

McCutchen displaying the oldest of old player in decline profile during his brief sample size with NYY. Lots of walks, and nothing else st all.

Dan Kolko @masnKolko
Stephen Strasburg with some incredibly high praise when talking about Juan Soto’s ability to spit on close pitches just off the plate: “It’s reminiscent of watching Tony Gwynn growing up.”

"What's that sign say?"

"No bare feet."

"What's THAT sign say??"

"No spitting."

"What's it mean?"

"No spitting."

"You owe me one gumball machine."

Hello, Wild Card.
   83. Count Vorror Rairol Mencoon (CoB) Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:57 PM (#5743316)
What a crap loss. What a crap road trip.
   84. Chip Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:58 PM (#5743317)
Red Sox magic number drops to 7.

Yankees trying very hard to arrange a trip to Oakland for themselves. Maybe even Houston.
   85. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 10:58 PM (#5743318)
Ugh.
   86. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:00 PM (#5743319)
Grandersons only previous homer at Wrigley was against mark prior? Good Lord.
   87. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:02 PM (#5743321)
I remember that game. It was one of Prior’s first starts back from his latest injury. One of those starts that made me accept he was pretty much finished.
   88. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:04 PM (#5743323)
At least they’re removing any drama.
   89. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:04 PM (#5743324)
Look at that 2 inch vertical on Murphy.
   90. Bote Man Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:06 PM (#5743326)
Yelich could've banked on Murphy not being able to leap high enough to catch that line drive. Dude has no legs any more.
   91. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:06 PM (#5743327)
This game is over but I don’t know why Kintzler got the call here.
   92. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:06 PM (#5743328)
Dfa kintzler, so Joe can't use him anymore.

Duensing has a 7.82 era?!?! I didn't realize it was that bad.
   94. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:09 PM (#5743330)
Stupid shift. Taylor made dp.
   95. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:10 PM (#5743331)
He’s the official white flag.

Brewers definitely look like the better team.
   96. Chip Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:11 PM (#5743333)
Yankee postgame very encouraged by Severino’s success against one of the 4-5 worst offenses in the AL. Oakland and Houston scouts fervently hoping this gets him the wild card assignment.
   97. Howie Menckel Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:11 PM (#5743334)
I lol'd at Duensing's stats.

he has to be the worst RP, 40+ IP category, ever to pitch meaningful innings in a pennant race.

23 K, 28 BB? is he related to Maddon?

first 2 Brewers swing at the first pitch - and why not? I can picture Brewers tackling each other in the dugout, trying to get an AB here
   98. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:12 PM (#5743335)
What the ####, just play the game. These pitching changes are brutal.
   99. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:12 PM (#5743336)
Brewers definitely look like the better team.

Nah.
   100. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 12, 2018 at 11:12 PM (#5743337)
I hope the Brewers score 11 more.
