Back in Texas.

The Texas Rangers have signed free-agent right-hander Roy Oswalt, according to an individual familiar with the process.

What a bizarre attribution. I mean, I'd wager many BBTF residents are familiar with the process, but that doesn't mean any of us reliable sources for Rangers' signings...

familiar with the process of what?
pitching right handed?
signing his or her name?
recruiting free agents?

#3 wins.

That could include anyone who's a fan of process.

Jeez, you guys will nit-pick anything. I've always took this wording to mean as "the process that is presently going on to sign Roy Oswalt" not "the general process of signing a free agent player."

I'm familiar with processed cheese food.

huh, i was hoping the dodgers would pick him up.

actually, it would have been neat if the cards picked him up and he turned into bob gibson circa 1968 just so that some people's heads would splode.

Holy crap, Joe Nathan is having a terrific year. I literally had no idea.

So, does that make this a depth signing? There's not exactly room in the rotation, unless Feliz has a much bigger issue than initially reported.

Jesus, their whole staff is incredible. They've only had 13 guys THROW A PITCH this season, and one of those has less than 5 IP.

#10 Oswalt can also play leftfield.

Feliz has a sprained UCL. That's pretty serious. He's not going to be back before July, and then he might be back as a reliever.

It also keeps him from being emergency Weaver replacement.

Yes, yes we will. But the more common phrasing is "familiar with the negotations" or "discussions" or even "the player's/team's thoughts on the matter". Familiar with the "process" is odd ... but maybe it means it comes from somebody in MLB (naughty naughty) or MLBPA which is part of the process but not part of the negotiations. Or from the guy at the print shop or the bike courier who took the contract to Oswalt or the guy who services Roy's tractor ...

Yahoo says Feliz won't return until after the All Star break.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Roy negotiating with the Rangers at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

I'll agree with #6 ... and when I clicked on the link in #5 and then tried to close it, the computer asked in an unfamiliar way, "Do you want to end this process?"
