Also, there would be no cycle if Guzman hadn't tried to stretch a single into a double in the second inning (he was thrown out).

I don't get it. He had a single, got thrown out at second, and still had a single.
EDIT: I guess you meant there would have been no cycle if he had been safe? Or else I'm just missing something.
