Steigerwald: An asterisk could be useful

In Steigerwald: He so happy. He want to cry.

Ryan Braun gets an asterisk.

Not in the official Major League Baseball record book, but in my head. He was “exonerated” of using performance-enhancing drugs by arbitrator Shyam Das. Because the tester took Braun’s samples home and put them in his refrigerator instead of getting them to the lab within one day, the case was thrown out.

...Lots of really nice guys with lots of character and integrity have been unable to tell the truth about what they put in their bodies.

I don’t know if Braun juiced, and neither do you.

It’s up to you whether you want to put that asterisk in your head when you see his name.

In the long run, MLB might have won because it provided strong evidence that it’s serious about catching the juicers.

Tired of this but I guess we'll hear this over and over again! Having watched Braun's full 12 minute statement, he seemed honest and sincere and he is not an actor! He was reading from a script and then at times, seemed to be speaking from his heart. He said everything you'd want a person to say if he was innocent. My hats off to him. If was is/was completely guilt-free, what else can he do?

Yes, this topic is the analog to the Starlin Castro thread. It simply will not go away no matter how hard we squint.

Well it would help if we didn't link to noted assclown Steigerwald.

At least this guy has a certain sense of humor. His most recent column before this was titled "EVEN WITH BURNETT, THEY STILL STINK"

I don't know if this guy molested 16 schoolchildren, and neither do you. It's up to you whether you want to see this guy rot in prison when you see his name.

Agree to be questioned by a room full of reporters, then by Mike Wallace, then by Congressional staffers, then by Congress. Under oath. And then file a defamation lawsuit.

Only that will convince people.

But Steigerwald's right. An asterisk IS useful when it comes to steroid testing.

Everyone needs to obey the rules to the letter *

(*except MLB)

I only just now found out that the Cardiff Giant is in something called the Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown!! Now I have a reason to go to Cooperstown!

Ryan Braun gets an asterisk...in my head.

Why don't you just keep it there, eh?

Dale - is this the first you've heard of the Cardiff Giant?
   11. Dale Sams Posted: February 26, 2012 at 02:50 PM (#4069057)
No, but I never would have guessed he was being kept in Cooperstown.

You learn a lot about the history of hops growing in that region in that museum too IIRC. Ommegang brewery is a few miles outside of town too.

Confess!

While Braun is probably guilty I loathe just about all drug-testing, and one way to fight it is to hold the testers to the highest possible standard.

But the picture of him doing it is a pretty good indication, except that he's arguing that it's a very good Photoshop job.

So, guilty or not?
