Steve Busby: I think it’s fair to question Rangers’ Josh Hamilton for missing games

Texas Rangers play-by-play voice Steve Busby spoke with “Galloway and Company” on KESN-FM about the team, and touched on a number of topics. Here are some of the highlights.

On if it’s OK to question Josh Hamilton for missing games

I think it’s fair to question it. But I think it’s fair to question any superstar for missing game. Whether is legitimate or not, I don’t know. But I think it’s legitimate. I’ll put it the way Ron Washington put it; if he can’t see he’s coming out of the lineup, I don’t care who it is. Can Josh do things to stay in the lineup? Probably. But you could say that about a lot of guys.

Thanks to Butch.

This doesn't even make grammatical sense.

Q: Josh, why are you missing games?
A: I can't see

Simple.

Nothing uttered about Hamilton makes any sense outside of his contract situation. What they're really asking poor Bus is "Should the Rangers offer a gazillion dollars to this obvious pants-pooping fraud?" If Bus says "yes" he's a fool, and if he says "no" he's questioned the heart of the sterling young man who has led the Rangers to two pennants with his mettle and courage and love of God.

Edit: and that said, it really may be the case that there's something weird in the water around here that is hurting everybody's verbal ability. The other day in the Ft Worth Startlegram, there was a story about Michael Young, that went something like "Michael is having a bad year. Some people are happy about this, because they don't think he's good, and every year when he's been good they want him to be bad. But Michael isn't happy about being bad, he wants to be good." A few paragraphs of that, and you want to start weeping from inanity.
