Taiwan Series: Monkeys edge by Lions to claim their second CPBL title

The Lamigo Monkeys won their second league title in the team’s team history by edging past the Uni-President Lions in a 3-2 final in Game Five of this year’s Taiwan Series at the Taoyuan International Baseball Stadium on Thursday night, claiming the annual Fall Classic by a convincing 4-1 margin.

Insert joke about how awesome the name “Lamigo Monkeys” is here.

One of the local high school teams -- until not terribly many years ago -- was named the Fightin' Coons (now the much more politically correct Fightin' Raccoons).

Makes "Monkeys" seem positively enlightened in comparison.

One thing to note about the team's name is that, in it's native tongue, it sounds very similar to the name of the city (Taoyuan) that the team plays in.
