Taking Back the Ballparks - Mariners voting thread

The nominating thread for the Mariners provided one of the liveliest collection of suggestions yet. Alas, none of them were Safeco, which I thought was the prohibitive favorite.

Our committee has chosen the Top 5, per usual, and opinion was split on whether to include Safeco anyway. I’m going to err on the safe side and leave it as one of six options.

As always, choose 1:

1) Cascadia Field
2) Elliott Bay Park
3) The Kingpark
4) Rainier Field
5) Safeco FIeld
6) Tahoma Park

Voting will close next Thursday.

1) Cascadia, although my vote would have gone to Emerald something or other had it been on the ballot.

4) Rainier

I don't like the idea of Cascadia, because the league will probably expand to Portland one day, which is also Cascadia.

Cascadia Field.

Sounds wonderful.

Voxter, potentially screwing Portland only makes Cascadia more enticing :)

1) Cascadia Field, though I did appreciate the Nintendo themed suggestions from the other thread

But only if the locals swear it is OK with them. :)

4) Rainier Field

As a local, I swear it is OK with me!

I'm bummed Pioneer Park didn't make the cut, but it wouldn't have won and the others are all fine, too.

That's a quality selection right there.

I'm going with 3)The Kingpark.

I have so many happy memories of seeing games in the Kingdome. It was a uniquely drab place with mediocre home teams, at least at the time I was going. And the fans there were very funny, it was fairly empty, so you could hear a lot of different conversations. Good times that I will never forget, so I'm happy to tip my cap to the old park... and the dome morphing into a park is an interesting use of language.

1. Cascadia Field.

So that will do it. The winner, as could be easily surmised, is Cascadia Field, outpacing Rainier Field.

With the holiday season upon us, we will put TBtB on a break until after the New Year. I'm guessing Primer will sees a little less traffic. More important, to me anyway, I will be out of the country* for a week over the holiday, and unable to update as necessary.

We'll return the first week of January, when Pittsburgh goes on the clock. I hope we can find as many worthwhile choices to replace PNC as we did for the park in the PNW.

* I hear the Baltics are lovely this time of year.
