Taking Back the Ballparks - Padres voting thread

Unlike our two previous installments, the Padres nominating thread didn’t seem to generate a consensus choice for a name for the lovely little ballpark near the Pacific Ocean. And opinion was equally spread with our nominating committee, which is why a hefty six choices will be put before the electorate. As was the case with the Rangers, if you choose one of the selections, you’ll be asked to follow up with a second question.

Voting will conclude one week from today, at which point we’ll announce Team No. 4.

Choose One:
A) Ballast Point
B) Gaslight Grounds
C) The Mission
      1) Alone
      2) Mission Field
D) Padres Park
E) The Shipyard
F) Tony Gwynn Field

Edit: So we have a winner. The Cs dominated, with nearly equal support for The Mission and Mission Field. In the narrowest competition yet, Mission Field claimed the honor.

Choices to date:

San Francisco Giants: China Basin
Texas Rangers: The Ballpark in Arlington
San Diego Padres: Mission Field

Voting is now open. If you'd like to continue to debate the choices, you can do so at the nominating thread.

The Mission Alone.

I am torn between "Mission Field" and "The Shipyard". I could go with either, but if forced to choose "The Shipyard".

Definitely C. Not sure which sub-question, I guess C-1.

I forget, will all of the C votes get compiled first, or are C-1 and C-2 counted as separate votes?

All the Cs will be grouped in the initial vote, then the preferred choice between 1 and 2 would be selected.

Oh, I like A.

Mission Accomplished Field, though in truth I never minded Petco because of the mammoth BTF thread that it inspired.

C2. Mission Field just sounds good. Somebody pointed out that it might not fit the city's geography. And it would mess up my plan to put an expansion team in San Antonio. But what the heck.

I'm agnostic about alone vs. Field so will abstain there.

Though if C or E get picked, they are okay too.

F) Tony Gwynn Field
   30. Karl from NY Posted: August 29, 2017 at 02:35 PM (#5522926)
C2.

What's the procedure here? Suppose E beats each of C1 and C2 individually, but C1 + C2 > E. Does that count as a win for E or for category C?
   31. SoSH U at work Posted: August 29, 2017 at 03:53 PM (#5523004)
If you choose either C1 or C2, it counts toward the total for C. The numbers would come into play if C is the winner.

I like "Padres Park" the best. The others seem too contrived.
   35. stevegamer Posted: August 31, 2017 at 10:22 PM (#5524587)
D - Padres Park.

If there wasn't already a Tony Gwynn field, that would get my vote.

We have a winner (see the lede-in).

New team to be announced soon.
