Taking Back the Ballparks - Twins voting thread

Once a target of ill-considered contraction, the Twin Cities is now just the home of Target Field. The naming thread produced a slew of potential nominees for a new moniker, though with some support for the existing one.

We’ve narrowed it down to five selections. Choose wisely.

A) Great Northern Park
B) Hennepin Stadium
C) Mill City Field
D) Target Field
E) Twin Cities Field

Next Up: the birthplace of pro baseball.

I don't really care about any of them, but I will vote for any of the others to stop Target from winning.

Strategic voting time...

I think this is one of these cases where even cranky corporation-averse Primates are actually going to call the place Target no matter what we might vote on instead. I'll vote for Target (D) as an acknowledgment of reality …

It's kind of strange, since the nominating thread was livelier than usual.

A) Great Northern Park.

I grudgingly agree.

D) Target Field

"Well, I don't like it, but that's what people are going to call it, so might as well capitulate" seems entirely antithetical to the spirit of the exercise.

A) Great Northern Park

A - Great Northern

B) Hennepin Stadium. But really, anything but Target.

Great Northern Park

A = Great Northern

Target Field is a perfectly fine name. It's one of the best corporate sponsor names. I'd vote for it but .... I really really like Great Northern as a name.

All of these names seem terribly boring. Great Northern??? Okay.

That seems appropriate for the Twins.

Target Field is a perfectly fine name. It's one of the best corporate sponsor names. I'd vote for it, especially because I really really hate Great Northern as a name.

D) Target

D) Target

I like Twin Cities Field, but Target Field is fine and more realistic. It's a good sponsor one, like AT&T and Safeco.

D) Target

As a local ...

A) Great Northern Park -- I guess, but for some reason it doesn't do much for me.
B) Hennepin Stadium -- Ugh.
C) Mill City Field -- I like this one, but I suspect I am alone.
D) Target Field -- Target is plenty loved her and the locals will call it this anyway.
E) Twin Cities Field -- People from Minneapolis and St. Paul have a weird rivalry and would hate this name.

In net, Target Field.

Hennepin Field.

Welcome to BTF BrokenBat. I hope you choose to stick around.

Clearly A or D for these choices. I like A but would alter it to Great Northern Ballpark
   28. SoSH U at work Posted: August 10, 2018 at 07:40 AM (#5724543)
In a fairly close vote, Great Northern Park outpolls the existing name for the win.

We're down to six parks left.

Well, BrokenBat voted twicet, but since he's new here I'll let it go. ::grumble, grumble::

Just kidding!

On the other hand, I wasn’t sure if Voodoo voted even once.
