tampabay.com: Miller is glad his major-league-record streak is over

Through all the years has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. And through all this time, Trever Miller, no one has done what you have done. Another memory to brush away from our faces.

Speaking of streaks, if you don't have a 3 game hitting streak, or better, going into tomorrow, you can't beat Joe D's 56 game streak. Better luck next year.

Shouldn't this be commemorated somehow? Like a "Mr. Indecisive" bronze plated spatula or something? Who was the previous record holder? Were he or any of his family present when Miller set the record? What was the previous record?

Yes you can. You can't break his single-season hitting streak record, but hitting streaks carry over to the following season.
