Joe Buck just said this as his pre-opener..."I CAN'T WAIT for the start of the All-Star Game coming up in a few minutes!"

Lying sack of extra forehead flesh.
   2. Lassus Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:42 PM (#2857580)
Thanks, Repoz, now I don't have to keep harassing the other threads. :D

FLAME O-

I mean, GAME ON!
   3. phredbird Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:42 PM (#2857581)
i don't see a game chatter posted. is this it?

Thank you for the topic. I was not completely sold on the idea of watching the game, but now I’m at least going to give it my best.
   6. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:44 PM (#2857585)
So did Rudy tell the crew, "light me so I look like a serial child rapist."?
   7. Dr Love Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:45 PM (#2857589)
I don't normally give a #### about these things, but for some odd reason I want to watch tonight. Even if Buck and McCarver are calling it.
   8. Lassus Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:45 PM (#2857590)
These "I just found the internet" commercials are not clever.
   9. still hunting for a halo-red october (in Delphi) Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:49 PM (#2857597)
I'm pretty sad that Timmy isn't going to be at the game.
   10. Gamingboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:49 PM (#2857598)
That is a lot of red carpet. If they were smart they would have made it base-path brown.
   11. Textbook Editor Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:51 PM (#2857601)
This is the dumbest hour of television I've ever halfheartedly watched. Nothing but an excuse to cram in an extra hour of commercials.

I, for one, cannot wait for Fox to stop broadcasting baseball games. Fox is the baseball antichrist.
   12. Lassus Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:52 PM (#2857602)
I had to turn the sound off on the pre-game. Just too many inane questions.

I worked an 11-hour day, so I didn't have a chance to get over to 6th avenue, 4 WHOLE AVENUES OVER to see any of the parade. Also, I hate parades. The overhead shot of the red carpet was pretty cool, though.
   13. aleskel Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:52 PM (#2857603)
"So David Duchovny, can you tell us any pointless, rambling stories about the experiences at Yankee Stadium that you never had?"
   14. still hunting for a halo-red october (in Delphi) Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:52 PM (#2857604)
Am I the only one who hates Jeannie Zelasko with the heat of a thousand suns?
   15. Lassus Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:53 PM (#2857605)
"This is America, passion was invented here."

SHUT UP BANK OF AMERICA
   16. cardsfanboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:53 PM (#2857606)
every year I think I'm not really interested in watching, and every year I end up watching at least some portion of the game.
   17. Gamingboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:54 PM (#2857608)
Hunting, I hate Jeannie Zelasko with the heat of a thousand and one suns, so you are still the only one.
   18. JJ1986 Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:54 PM (#2857609)
Am I the only one who hates Jeannie Zelasko with the heat of a thousand suns?

No.
   19. Gamingboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:55 PM (#2857610)
Why couldn't we see Bon Jovi all hour instead of this stupid parade?
   20. cardsfanboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:55 PM (#2857611)
Just curious is there any announcers on the planet that is universally liked (except Vin Scully) it seems no matter who is on the tv, that the majority hates them.
   21. still hunting for a halo-red october (in Delphi) Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:55 PM (#2857612)
You win, gamingboy. :P
   22. PS is probably a sitcom character Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:55 PM (#2857613)
See? In Canada, we just get people interviewing Canadian players about stuff. It isn't as inane.

Except after the pre-game show, it'll just dump me to the FOX telecast.
   23. cardsfanboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:56 PM (#2857615)
Mark Grace = I like, and the guy from Best Damn Sports show = I like.
   24. Gamingboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:56 PM (#2857616)
Dear god, they're singing. God help us all.
   25. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:57 PM (#2857617)
This "New York, New York" clip looks like it was put together by an 8th grade A/V class.
   26. cardsfanboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:57 PM (#2857618)
Couldn't they just let Sinatra do the song. I love the song but it's because of Old Blue Eyes, not these half hearted efforts
   27. Lassus Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:57 PM (#2857619)
I kind of hate jeanie zelasko, but weirdly, I kind of blame Fox and the public for her persona in a way.

Strahan can sing!

But no one else can. How depressing.
   28. aleskel Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:58 PM (#2857620)
well, that's 90 seconds of my life I'll never get back
   29. Repoz Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:58 PM (#2857621)
This red carpet crap is the dullest thing thing I've seen...since I caught a glimpse of my mother-in-law's flat ass wobbling out of a dressing room.
   30. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:58 PM (#2857623)
I had it on for about 2 minutes. Once Jeannie Zelasko appeared I was ready to change it, then Mark Grace came on and that clinched it.
   31. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:59 PM (#2857624)

All Morneau! All the time! It's the Major League Baseball All-Star Game! Only on CBC!

[EDIT: I see Russell Martin and, of all people, Ryan Dempster are also all-stars.]
   32. Dr Love Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:59 PM (#2857626)
Couldn't they just let Sinatra do the song.

It's pretty hard to mic this.
   33. cardsfanboy Posted: July 15, 2008 at 11:59 PM (#2857628)
yep, Strahan was about the only thing worth a crap on that segment.
   34. PS is probably a sitcom character Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:00 AM (#2857629)
All Morneau! All the time! It's the Major League Baseball All-Star Game! Only on CBC!

Nope... Rogers Sportsnet.
   35. Dr Love Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:00 AM (#2857631)
So when is the actual first pitch, 9:15 ET?
   36. aleskel Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:00 AM (#2857632)
I like how their "beloved New Yorkers" were a couple of cops, a couple of firemen, three NY Giants, and David Wells on a golf course.
   37. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:01 AM (#2857633)
link doesn't work in post 32.

I like how their "beloved New Yorkers" were a couple of cops, a couple of firemen, three NY Giants, and David Wells on a golf course.

They brought out the Village People's extended family?
   39. still hunting for a halo-red october (in Delphi) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:01 AM (#2857636)
Ernie Banks: not the most inspiring speaker in the world.
   40. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:01 AM (#2857637)
So when is the actual first pitch, 9:15 ET?

I'll say 8:42.
   41. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:01 AM (#2857638)
So when is the actual first pitch, 9:15 ET?

that would be good for me, I don't get to the bar until 7:30 central time at the earliest.
   42. Gamingboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:01 AM (#2857639)
Bob Shepherd mention = Full of Win
   43. Brandon in MO (Yunitility Infielder) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:02 AM (#2857640)

re: 37

Should work now.
   46. Lassus Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:02 AM (#2857644)
"Who are they talking about? A german shephard?"

"I dunno. Where's the Aquafina?"
   47. Sebastian Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:02 AM (#2857646)
I adore Ernie Banks, but that’s not going to rival the barrage of expletives Ichiro is about to unleash on the AL.
   48. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:03 AM (#2857648)
I like the fact that the fans or the players didn't pick Albert Pujols, but that he is the starting cleanup hitter.
   49. Lassus Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:03 AM (#2857650)
Corey Hart looks like someone who could be playing in 1923. He's got that face.
   50. Gamingboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:03 AM (#2857651)
Wow, is Buck talking faster or is it just me?
   51. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:04 AM (#2857652)
David Wells is a New Yorker? I thought he was from California.

Geez, how many guys who played with the Yankees for less than a quarter of their careers are TRUE YANKEES?
   52. Dr Love Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:04 AM (#2857653)
Even Brian Wilson can't believe he's an All Star.
   53. Brandon in MO (Yunitility Infielder) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:04 AM (#2857654)
George Brett.. yeah, that's a guy who will get a good reaction in Yankee Stadium

"It means something now, it didn't mean diddly then" - way to spin it George!
   54. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:04 AM (#2857655)
Should work now.

again we are morbid lot on here. :)
   55. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:04 AM (#2857656)
Brian Wilson is on the All Star team!?
   56. Lassus Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:05 AM (#2857658)
Geez, George Brett, who kicked your dog today?
   57. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:05 AM (#2857659)
Corey Hart looks like someone who could be playing in 1923. He's got that face.

He's white, clean-shaven, and looks like he's 15 years older than he is and he just learned that his family was blown up in a house fire?
   58. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:05 AM (#2857660)
Brett is just as inspiring as Ernie Banks or Ben Stein.
   59. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:05 AM (#2857661)
George Sherrill is on the All Star team!?
   60. Sebastian Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:06 AM (#2857662)
Stay classy, Boo York. I expected Papelbon to be booed with even more abandon.
   61. aleskel Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:06 AM (#2857663)
whoa, is Vlad not on the AL team? I didn't notice that
   62. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:06 AM (#2857664)
what is hamiltons response going to be from the fans?
   63. Guts Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:07 AM (#2857666)
Roy Halladay looks like he's at a funeral.
   64. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:07 AM (#2857667)
I don't think that's how you say Duchscherer's name.
   65. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:07 AM (#2857668)
You know how ever much you hate the Yankees, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Mariano Rivera.
   66. still hunting for a halo-red october (in Delphi) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:07 AM (#2857669)
It's Dook-sher, Buck.

God, I hate Joe Buck.
   67. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:07 AM (#2857670)
Nothing more inspirational than "Give him some low smoke and we'll go in and pound some Budweiser."
   68. PS is probably a sitcom character Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:07 AM (#2857671)
I don't think you can say Douche-sharer on TV...
   69. Brandon in MO (Yunitility Infielder) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:08 AM (#2857673)
I just found the internets!
   70. Lassus Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:09 AM (#2857674)
He's white, clean-shaven, and looks like he's 15 years older than he is and he just learned that his family was blown up in a house fire?

Well, yes, except for the clean-shaven part. ;-)
   71. Gamingboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:09 AM (#2857675)
You know how ever much you hate the Yankees, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Mariano Rivera.

I hate them more then I hate Communism (and I hate Communism), but I still like Rivera. Except for when he's pitching against a team I want to win. Which is almost any time playing the yankees.
   72. aleskel Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:09 AM (#2857676)
so which HOFer do they trot out last like they did with Mays last year? I'm guessing Yogi
   73. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:10 AM (#2857679)
I don't think you can say Douche-sharer on TV...

you can say #### on tv, so I imagine you can say Douche--sharer (although isn't that a title of an up and coming lifetime tv show starring Rosie O'donnel and Ellen?)
   74. Brandon in MO (Yunitility Infielder) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:10 AM (#2857680)
"I did my research on Wikipedia"

And they've been using a new way of saying Rusty Kuntz at Royals games. So obviously some words can't be said on TV.
   75. vortex of dissipation Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:11 AM (#2857683)
Brian Wilson is on the All Star team!?

Yes, but if he comes into the game, Carol Kaye is actually going to throw the pitches.
   76. Brandon in MO (Yunitility Infielder) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:11 AM (#2857684)
YAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY, Ludo gets mainstreamed by House.

Wait, alternative is mainstream, ####! better go listen to some TV on the Radio or Arcade Fire.
   77. Lassus Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:11 AM (#2857685)
Am I the only one who absolutely can't stand HOUSE? The show, the character, the writing, any of it?
   78. aleskel Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:12 AM (#2857687)
David Wells is a New Yorker? I thought he was from California.

he is, which makes his inclusion in that video even more pathetic (on Fox's part)
   79. Francoeur Sans Gages (AlouGoodbye) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:12 AM (#2857688)
I hate Joe Buck so much.
   80. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:12 AM (#2857689)
It would've been awesome if Boggs wore a Red Sox hat.
   81. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:12 AM (#2857690)

I hate them more then I hate Communism (and I hate Communism), but I still like Rivera. Except for when he's pitching against a team I want to win. Which is almost any time playing the yankees.

I hate the Yankees not with that much passion (I reserve that for the Mets --due to the 80's -- and Red Sox -- due to their fans) but that is kinda my point, Mariano has been nothing but a professional that it's hard to dislike him, factor in that he's as good as his fanboys consider him and there isn't even that hatred because he is overrated component that may be reserved for a captain or two)
   82. The elusive Robert Denby Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:12 AM (#2857691)
They got Steve Carlton out of his concrete bunker?
   83. Guts Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:13 AM (#2857692)
49 HOFers is a lot. But shouldn't it only be the AL HOFs, since the NL guys never played at the stadium?
   84. Gamingboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:13 AM (#2857693)
Rollie's 'stache puts Giambi's to shame.
   85. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:13 AM (#2857694)
Where is Bert Blyleven for the first pitch????.....oh yea that's right. :(
   86. Lassus Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:13 AM (#2857695)
This is it? Where's Seaver?
   87. Brandon in MO (Yunitility Infielder) Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:14 AM (#2857696)
Hey Cameraman, way to get that closeup of Whitey Ford
   88. AJMcCringleberry Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:14 AM (#2857697)
It looks like they replaced Gaylord Perry with a generic old man.
   89. Crispix reaches boiling point with lackluster play Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:14 AM (#2857698)
And heeeeeere coooooooome the pretzels!
   90. Lassus Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:14 AM (#2857699)
Ohhhhhh we're going to beat the #### out of Cliff Lee. I can feel it.
   91. strikeout to balk ratio Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:15 AM (#2857700)
wheres seaver? got something better to do?
   92. Guts Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:15 AM (#2857701)
Harmon Killebrew is still alive? Huh.
   93. Dr Love Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:15 AM (#2857702)
It looks like they replaced Gaylord Perry with a generic old man.

I guess his VORP (Value Over Retired Person) is so low no one would really notice.
   94. Gamingboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:15 AM (#2857703)
Has anyone figured out what the Bleacher Creatures are going to do for the roll-call?
   95. cardsfanboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:15 AM (#2857704)
that's cool with them putting the hof guys at their position.
   96. Guts Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:16 AM (#2857705)
The DH position is going to be awkward. Moliter, I guess?
   97. aleskel Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:16 AM (#2857706)

pleading for ... for some kind of sanity

Rod really wanted to stand at first, but they needed some 2nd basemen for this ceremony
   99. Gamingboy Posted: July 16, 2008 at 12:16 AM (#2857708)
Wow, they didn't boo Maz.
