The 700 Level: VIDEO: Colbert On The Mets’ Commemorative Patch

Colbert notes, “the Mets chose a patch that uniquely captures the essence of the franchise. It’s perfect.”

Punchlines in link. Good stuff and you only need to watch the first minute or so, though the rest of the (non-baseball) material is funny too.

I didn't know the 700 Club had such a funny blog.

The Onion stopped being funny months ago.

Oh wait, this was Colbert?

In all seriousness, though, I'm glad SOMEONE else noticed the lameness of this. I'm also wondering if Colbert is a Mets fan, he seems to have the proper sense of warm self-denigration that the happier portions of our fanbase have. Then again, this could have been a shot at Stewart, who is a known Mets fan. At least he skewers the Yankees too.

I'm not sure if this Colbert baseball video made it on here, I don't recall it, but it's pretty awesome:

I wouldn't talk if I was forced to wear the flailing friar & was as homely as Nate was in the first place.

or, being the proud south carolinian he is, maybe he's a braves fan and genuinely enjoyed the dig. isn't that a creepy thought? it would be like finding out a girl you wanted to date was a scientologist or something.
