The Crazy World of Scott Feldman…
The Texas Rangers, who have developed more pitchers over the past 10 years than virtually anyone, not including all other major league teams, converted Scott Feldman to a reliever at the All Star Break in order to reduce his innings total in 2008. He’d never thrown more than about 70 innings, and was at 100 innings this season, so already, there was a danger in pitching him beyond where he is.
Then an injury occured, and Feldman filled in on July 21, going six innings against the White Sox. And when Kevin Millwood came out of Wednesday’s game, guess who was tabbed to take his next start? That’s right: Scott Feldman.
Makes sense, doesn’t it? The Rangers are now just 10.5 games out of first place- ruining a middling arm that represents one of the few current Texas properties that could provide innings in 2009 and beyond to chase a highly improbaqble playoff berth- sign me up!

1. Jimmy P Posted: July 25, 2008 at 10:06 PM (#2873463)Well, in the past two years they developed Edison Volquez and John Danks. They've just traded both of those guys away. At least they got something for Volquez.
You can also give them at least some credit for Chris Young.
*sigh*
You can also give them at least some credit for Chris Young.
And Justin Duchchchererer!
I'm out of my anti-depressants...can we change the subject?
This is a grave insult to Ryan Glynn, Colby Lewis and Tony Mounce.
I don't think the Rangers get credit for Tony Mounce.
That's OK though...they do get credit for Ryan Drese and Doug Davis.
Can someone just go ahead and shoot me now?
As long as this stays a thread about the Rangers pitching staff, finding something to buck up your spirits is going to be tough.
So, how about that Warner Madrigal? Franklyn German is a good asset. Whatever happened to John Rheinecker? Or John Koronka?
Nah...Neftali Feliz will do it. Maybe a dose of Tommy Hunter or Derek Holland. And, hey, Thomas Diamond has actually appeared on a mound without managing to injure himself. Miracles will never cease.
I was wondering how long it would take someone to figure out my secret identity...
Actually, nope...I'm older, shorter, and significantly more right-handed. Not to mention, I have no athletic talent whatsoever.
Then again, that's not so much a requirement WRT Ranger pitching.
