Video scouting reports of the most overrated pitching prospects in baseball. An excerpt follows:
Lofgren is liked by many because of his mental make-up. He is intelligent and has a great “feel” for pitching and many think his stuff plays up because of this. I completely appreciate the need for a pitcher to have a strong make-up and a great feel for pitching, but when it becomes the central argument for putting Lofgren among the better pitching prospects in the game, you lose me.
Including Chuck Lofgren (Indians), the other pitchers include Luke Hochevar (Royals), Greg Reynolds (Rockies), Matt Harrison (Rangers), and Kevin Mulvey (Twins)

1. BeanoCook Posted: April 18, 2008 at 05:56 AM (#2749351)I disagree with this. Hochevar is going to be a good major league pitcher. At least as good as J Weaver, which is above average. Is he supposed to dominate? I don't know anyone that thinks that. That is the definition of overrated, right?
BA, Sickels, and just about everyone else in the world have him as the second-best pitching prospect in the Indians organization, ahead of Aaron Laffey and Jensen Lewis but behind Adam Miller. BA has him projected as a number-four starter in a few years, which is a pretty similar outlook to the "fifth starter/long reliever" future that this link projects for him.
As far as I can tell, we're all pretty much in agreement here - Lofgren's a guy who looks like he'll probably be a decent starter with limited star potential.
