Unfortunately, the article isn't funny and the subject isn't all that interesting.

You'd have had better odds if you'd somehow found a way to combine baseball with Pavement and Republican politicians.

Obligatory cool article on the behind-the-scenes work it took to get "Homer at the Bat" to the screen.

Fun facts: Ryne Sandberg was the first choice to be the second baseman. Jose Canseco was supposed to have an affair with Edna Krabapple but was a jerk about it. Harry Shearer and Julie Kavner hated the script. Ozzie Smith's kid was a huge Simpsons fan.

Reasonably amusing.

Harry Shearer loathes baseball for some reason. And it would probably be easier to compile a list of Simpsons scripts he's on record as loving.

Really? He does a great imitation of Vin Scully.

Shearer's a grump.

Did anyone ever find out who was on Mr. Burns' original team? I seem to remember hearing somewhere that he had Jim Creighton on it or something.

Some dubious choices, especially picking Hooper over Cobb and Charleston. Maybe he just liked the name.

Yeah, Burns would be the type to pick people based on names.
