The Onion: Craig Biggio Blames Media Pressure For Stalling At 285 Hit-By-Pitches

Looks like the pressure’s getting to Biggio.

“More than anything, I just want to be hit by three more pitches so all of this will go away,” said Biggio, who claims he has not slept in weeks and has developed multiple stomach ulcers. “Now I know why Don Baylor quit at 267.”

Why should they jam him when it seems any old pitch will get him out?

Maybe they just like to do it as much as he likes to have it done.

'Jennings did it without an arm guard.'

I specially liked this.

Will Bud Selig follow Biggio around to be there when he breaks the record?

Not sure what relevance this has, but Biggio quit wearing the arm guard this year, in case you haven't noticed.

I hate that umps almost never refuse to give the base when the player make no effort at all to get out of the way. Biggio is the worst offender.

I expect that similar pressure will fall on Frank Thomas as he approaches the sacrifice fly record. Every time he hits a single with a runner on third and less than two outs, the boos will start to fly.
