The SportsXchange: Monday a big day for Yankees ailing OF Beltran

Carlos could use a few more 5-hour Energy drinks.

Monday appears to be decision day for Yankees outfielder Carlos Beltran.
Beltran, currently on the 15-day disabled list with a bone spur in his right elbow,
will reportedly take some test swings on Monday to gauge progress in his recovery.

If pain persists surgery may be required. And the 37-year-old veteran could be out
until late July.

“We’ll kind of keep our fingers cross for Monday and how that goes and go from
there,” Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. “They told us if there was surgery, it would
be eight-to-10 weeks. I’m assuming it’s from the time he has surgery.”

You sign an old broken down guy like Beltran, you should be prepared for injuries. Luckily, they have a speedy young Japanese slap hitter around. They should give the kid a chance.

I am torn. I like Beltran and hope he is ok, but then again, he is a Yankee.

Time for a 3-way trade of Beltran/Fielder/Granderson.

I hardly want to defend the guy but the idiot Amaro signed Marlon Byrd for 2/$16 and he's hitting 299/343/491 (127 OPS+) and has 1.2 WAR already. He might pay off that deal by the end of the year.
