The Yankees’ skid pushed Aroldis Chapman’s return up | New York Post

In fact, Chapman said before the game that if the team hadn’t been immersed in a losing streak, he would’ve perhaps taken another minor league rehab game instead of flying out West for the one contest. “But I am here now,” he concluded.

“If you are a player being paid to play, and you are eligible, you show up,” Girardi said. “How many divisions are lost by one game? How many playoff spots have not been guaranteed by one game? It’s not ideal to be all the way out here, I get that. He had a travel day where he did not play. All our other players had a travel day where they played the next day. If you have people available who are the best, you want them here.”

I don't think blown saves are the Yankees problem at the moment.

Really? I think on this road trip they lost 3 times when they had the lead in the 8th inning or later

But how many would Chapman have saved, given his usage. In the 6 game losing streak
Game 1, lead blown in the 8th, game lost in 11th. He wouldn't have gotten in until the 9th, doubt he would have helped
Game 2, tie game runs in 7th.
Game 3 Yanks tie in 9th, go ahead in tenth, loss in bottom on 10th. Probably would have pitched in either 9th of 10th.
Game 4 Oakland goes ahead in 8th. Chapman not helping there.
Game 5 Oakland scores 5 in first 4 innings, holds on to win. No help
Game 6 Oakland score 4 in the 3, holds on to win 4-3.

The way he is used (non playoff), he might have helped in 1 game or 2.

Having Chapman might have pushed Bettances into some of those innings/situations in which the lead was lost.
