This is the line for Marlins tickets

This looks like the line I was once on to see the Yankees! (okay, okay…so it was Jon Tiven’s The Yankees)

vw

The line for single-game tickets outside #Marlins Park, less than 30 min before they go on sale

I was certain every possible joke about baseball attendance in Florida had been exhausted over the past 20 years. Then I saw the tweet by Joe Capozzi of the Palm Beach Post that included the photo above from the Miami Marlins Winter Warm Up event Saturday and realized we haven’t even scratched the surface.

I knew no one would want to see The Last Exorcism Part 2.

Even with no one buying tickets, Loria is still raking in the cash. What a business!

Typical tourist. Probably from Canadia.

That line's actually longer than the one at Cameron 30 minutes before the doors opened on the night of a Duke-Carolina game I went to**, when they were both in the top 10 and fighting for the ACC title. Personally I kind of liked that laid back attitude, which evaporated the minute the teams took the court.

The lowest average fans per game in Marlins history was just over 10,000 in 2002. They were at 27,000 last year. I figure the new stadium will keep them about 10k, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't.

Isn't it nice that Jeffrey Loria doesn't need to worry about pleasing the peasantry to reap fabulous profits? Of course he deserves every dime, who ever heard of a backwater berg like "Miami".

The individual in the black jeans and blond ponytail looks like they'll need two seats just for themself, so that's encouraging.

Seriously, for every person who buys a ticket in person nowadays there must be four people who buy online, so Miami could see crowds in the twenties this year.

So from this picture I can assume that there are three Marlins fans that don't have a phone/internet connection and a credit card?

It sounded like more than just a day for tickets to go on sale, it was their "Winter Warm Up," a fan fest event.

As part of the day, there will be tours of Marlins Park, and autograph and photo sessions with the players. Unlike previous years, there will not be any town hall-style meetings, where fans directly address players and team management.

All current full-season, half-season and 21-game mini-plan holders will be invited to exclusive season-ticket-holder events during the day.

Probably a good choice to cancel that town hall meeting.

That's a primate to be sure.

On the bright side, they've driven all the ticket scalpers in Miami out of business.
