Today’s (12-19) WBC Accept/Decline news

(Link: Ryan Braun article)

Ryan Braun has said “yes” to Team USA

Ryan Howard has said “no” to Team USA- This may actually be addition by subtraction, given Howard’s slow starts.

Grady Sizemore has been invited and has apparently accepted for Team USA

The new Yankees aces (CC and AJ), have said no- although CC hasn’t completely ruled it out (yet)- Burnett hadn’t even been invited.

About 8 players are confirmed through either newspaper reports or MLB.com reports to have accepted a spot on the provisional Team USA roster, including two pitchers: John Lackey and Joe Nathan. Several more (such as David Wright and Joe Mauer), are believed to be pro-playing, but haven’t been confirmed “officially” yet.

It is known that Justin Morneau and the immortal Stubby Clapp have both confirmed that they will play for Canada.

(I’m going to do this every night from now on so as not to clog up the servers with tons of WBC yea/nay news. I might post at a different time if a cluster of players say yes or no at once, or if a roster comes out)

Bam Bam Meulens.

Boom Boom Geoffrion would belong on Al's Canadian Dream Team, were he not deceased.

And Adam Loewen is no longer a pitcher on anyone's dream team.
