Tommy Lasorda, Tony La Russa on ‘Face the Nation’

That’s some nation.

You’ll hear a lot about presidential politics on Sunday morning, but CBS’ “Face the Nation” plans a baseball panel to celebrate Washington’s first postseason play in 79 years.

The panel will feature former managers Tony La Russa of the St. Louis Cardinals and Tommy Lasorda of the Los Angeles Dodgers. La Russa is promoting a book, “One Last Strike.” Another guest is Jane Leavy, who has written “The Last Boy: Mickey Mantle and the End of America’s Childhood.” CBS hints that there will be a “TBA wild card guest.”

With those first two guests I was going to nominate Travis Bickle for "TBA Wild Card Guest," but that would be indelicate. Jane Leavy wrote the Koufax book, right? Anybody read her new book?

I've only read one review of the book so far, but TLR's book sounds like a good read.

Clint Eastwood, obviously.

After the show, TLR will arrange an adoption of ten dogs for Tommy.
   6. Hey - you and Tommy Lasorda...I hate Tommy Lasorda Posted: October 06, 2012 at 08:11 PM (#4257173)
I can see it now, LaRussa gets a question he doesn't like and he goes to the press box to change journalists. While the new journalist is warming up we've have to hear another Lasorda story about how some kid in the playoffs today who's dad and Tommy ate pasta together before the 88 series. Then on to the obligitory "Dodgers will be back with the new ownership" garbage, while LaRussa goes back to the press box for another journalist change. I'll pass.
