Tough day for Hensley, who was caught speeding on way to ballpark and was wild in a loss

Clay Hensley got off with only a warning when pulled over for speeding while on his way to the ballpark Thursday night. The Cardinals were less kind to him than the cops.

It was a lousy day all around for the Florida Marlins pitcher, who walked three, hit two batters and gave up a home run in a matter of 2 1/3 innings as St. Louis prevailed, 7-4.

...“The outing was absolute (garbage),” Hensley said afterward. “I didn’t have any idea where the ball was going (Thursday night). It was hands down the worst I’ve pitched in my entire career.”

...In addition to plunking Freese in the helmet with the bases loaded in the third, he also struck Holliday in the left forearm with a pitch earlier in the inning.

“It’s just frustrating because of the lack of control I had (Thursday) could have seriously hurt somebody,” Hensley said. “There’s no excuse. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen again for a very, very long time. The ball was getting away from me all night. I don’t have much of an explanation for it.”

Thanks to Shank.

Huh. I count those days I get pulled over for speeding and get off with a warning as good days!

I guess if you make over a million a year a speeding ticket is "ashtray money" and the worst part is the inconvenience. Which seems backed up by his quote:

“It’s just frustrating because of the lack of control I had (Thursday) could have seriously hurt somebody,” Hensley said. “There’s no excuse. Hopefully, that doesn’t happen again for a very, very long time. The ball was getting away from me all night. I don’t have much of an explanation for it.”

Not sure what he was clocked at, but I'm sure the officer gave him a similar lecture regarding his speed.
