Tracy McGrady Retires From Baseball

That Baseball-Reference page is Popeye Jones ugly!

Former NBA star and Sugar Land Skeeters pitcher Tracy McGrady started the Atlantic League All Star Game Wednesday at Constellation Field before retiring from baseball after pitching 1.1 innings.

T-Mac struck out the last batter he faced, Atlantic League All Star Bryan Pounds, before walking off the mound to the applause of his teammates. The strikeout was the first and only “K” of McGrady’s baseball career and he kept the baseball for his mantle.

“That is definitely going in the trophy case,” he said from the dugout following his outing. “I told some of the guys that I am going to get a strikeout before I stop playing. I got it in the second inning. Thank you Jesus.”...

McGrady also combined with Lamar Little Leaguer Will Dolan to win the Atlantic League Home Run Derby with six home runs. Dolan hit all six of the team’s bombs.

Wait, a little leaguer won the home run derby?!

I think we just found something that would get me to actually watch the MLB home run derby: the chance to see MLB players lose to children.

In other news, I combined with Yoenis Cespedes to win this year's MLB Home Run Derby.

Actually, that would be pretty fun to see...a father son/daughter home run derby.
They like showing the kids in the dugout with their dads during the home run derby, why not set up some smaller fences and let them take a few swings on (underhand) pitches from their dads?

What, and risk messing up the kid's swing for the rest of the season? GTFO!

My money is on Victor Martinez and Little Victor.

Prince Fielder wants to know if he can borrow Robinson Cano's father/son trophy, Cecil stole his.

That Bryan Pounds guy should just tell everyone that a 7-time all star and possible future HOFer struck him out. No shame in that, right?

Look at the video of the pitch McGrady threw to get the called third strike. I thought I was watching the Livan Hernandez playoff game against the Braves or something...

Hmm. Judging from what's reported here, it would seem that This Time It Counts hasn't made it to the Atlantic League.

Bryan Pounds said he planned to swing through a couple of pipe shots to give McGrady a chance to make his final All-Star Game memorable. But he later said he was kidding.
