Travis Wood’s helmet decal snafu joins long list of ‘Cubbie occurrences’

Do not adjust your computer monitors or tablet screens. That really is Chicago Cubs pitcher Travis Wood stepping up to the plate on Monday night with a helmet decal that looks like it’s leaving early for a drink at The Cubby Bear or for a stint as the team’s guest conductor for the seventh inning stretch. (You try to find a celebrity to show up at Wrigley for a weekday game.)

My initial impulse after seeing this screencap floating around social media was to say that it was a photoshop done by somebody piling on the worst team in baseball. Maybe you’re saying the same thing so here’s a video of Wood’s at-bat for further proof:

Black Bolt is good for something then. (how many times has an alpha character been portrayed as such a imposing figure, who had never actually done anything, and the one time he truly let loose on anyone, it was either in space or against the Hulk and ineffective, because it wasn't the real Black Bolt)

My inability to come up with a good Inhumans-related follow-up has me on the verge of despair.

If this was the Yankees or Red Sox I would refer to their team/fans as inhuman, or the Marlin's owner, but the cubbies are so precocious, that it's not fair to pick on them. They think that if they try real hard, they might someday be a real major league team, that is so cute, like a 5 year old in her mother's high heels. :)
