No work today so I got to watch Giancarlo Stanton’s homer when it happened.

#1 - Thank you for that. Superb highlight.

These games look so goddam fun.

Yeah. On the one hand, it's obvious that things like pitch counts and additional restrictions imposed by MLB clubs and all the players who aren't participating mean that the WBC isn't everything it could be. But, hell, just watch the damned games. It's been incredibly entertaining.

Stanton's 117mph hr makes me wish Stat Cast was around for McGwire.(or Jack Clark---as a Cardinal fan)

I'd love to have had Statcast for that ball Glenallen Hill hit onto the rooftop of one of the buildings across the street from Wrigley.

My conservative estimate is that it was going about Mach 2 when it left the stadium.

Went to these games, and #4 and #6 (the Puerto Rico-USA game and this) were some of the most fun I've ever had at the ballpark. This one, especially, was a great game and a fantastic atmosphere, with the USA and Dominican partisans boisterous but not hostile toward each other.

I've said it in many WBC threads, but I really think this should happen every odd-numbered year rather than every four. I don't see the enthusiasm waning from the other countries, and having it become part of spring training 50% of the time would get Americans to treat it as less of a routine-busting distraction.

Trying to get a TV on this game at the local bar was challenging during March Madness, but we managed after several yelling bouts and the poor bartender left shaking after a few interactions. The wife and I need to bring her dinner one day soon during her shift.

really looking forward to the games today and tomorrow. I imagine it will be a PR/Japan final. but anything can happen in one game of baseball and the US has a good team this year and may beat Japan. What is the consensus on this game?
