Venezuela rallies past Italy to advance | MLB.com

Great ending. Too bad I missed it because I had to turn in.

Interesting to see Odor bat-flipping and pimp-walking what he thought was a home-run (and turned into a long single)...

That's some seriously laid-back play-by-play from Thorne. He sounds like he couldn't be arsed with that 9th-inning game-tying homer.

Too bad it was won by the team that shouldn't even have been playing the game.

It should have been Italy vs Mexico.

Why should it have been Mexico? Tiebreakers are usually going to be inherently unfair to someone, but given that this is the tiebreaker they're using, how would you justify giving Mexico a pass on allowing 5 runs without recording an out?

It only makes sense for Mexico to make the playoff if you believe that Mexico did better by not getting anybody out than if they had got one or two players out.

that was an enjoyable last few innings. Then to get K-Rod to come in and give up a bomb to lead off the B9th was just extra fun.
Some really good defensive plays made down the stretch by Venezuela.

The rule says defensive innings or partial innings. It does not say innings pitched. That last (terrible) inning was a partial defensive inning.

Yes, it 0/3 of an inning.

Edit: seriously, how do you think innings are counted for defensive state?

That was a bomb over the scoreboard off K-Rod. Great game and super clutch HR by Miggy.
