Victorino receives three-game suspension for role in brawl

Even though Brown is no longer with us…Stop The Phussing And Phighting! (I know…I hate that too)

ESPN is reporting that Major League Baseball has suspended Shane Victorino three games for his role in Friday night’s bench-clearing brawl between the Phillies and Giants in San Francisco. A source told ESPN.com’s Jayson Stark that Victorino plans to appeal.

No word yet if Giants reliever Ramon Ramirez, whose apparent intentional drilling of Victorino triggered the altercation, and Giants catcher Eli Whiteside will receive suspensions.

...And if the Phillies and Giants match up again in the post-season, Ramirez will have a golden opportunity to make an even bigger statement.

Such a match-up could make for a very interesting October.

As a Phillies fan ... yeah, that's fair. He started walking towards the mound, and resisted the umpires' efforts to restrain him.

But Ramirez and Whiteside should be suspended as well.

But Ramirez and Whiteside should be suspended as well.

Just ask Tony Bruno. Also, Whiteside dancing around like an idiot and getting punked seems pretty just.

Yadier Molina has a beef here I believe.

And I know Victorino's rage wasn't directed at the umpire, but "I really wanted to hit someone from behind" doesn't seem like mitigating circumstances.

I have a philosophical disagreement with beanballs, but hitting rodents in the face seems acceptable. And I have to keep reminding myself than Shane Victorino isn't vermin. It's not that easy to do.

I have no problem with the Victorino suspension, but Whiteside needs to get one too. His jumping around like he had a pogo stick up his ass is what caused Polanco to come in in the first place (Victorino was not rushing the mound, he took a couple steps and was jawing), and Whiteside initiated contact with Polanco.

Not mentioned is that Sandoval dragged down Ruiz from behind by the neck.
